A young adult male in an older Chrysler 300 shot a bird at me on the interstate today.

I was on an interstate headed west. There were 3 lanes for westbound travelers. I was in the middle lane and going 80 MPH.

I started to catch 2 cars that were in the middle lane. There was about 20 car lengths between them. I get in the left lane to pass them. I pass the first car with no problem. I start to approach the 2nd car and I see a car start to catch me from behind and they're probably going 90 MPH.

I pass the 2nd car and I try to create about 5 car lengths (70 feet) before I change lanes and not cut right in front of them. As I start to change lanes to the middle lane the car directly behind me tries to change lanes at the exact same time.

The guy then changes lanes to the far right lane and starts honking the horn and rolls down the window to shoot a bird at me. I speed up just enough to get his license plate #. He lives in the county where my relatives live.

I really want to find this guy and pay him back. I'm not willing to commit any felons, but maybe a misdemeanor.

Is it wrong for me to find out where he lives? I was hoping to buy a stone bird and throw it through his car window with a typed note attached that says "just returning the bird you shot at me on the interstate the other day while you were recklessly driving. Have a nice day!"

Great way to get shot.

Perfectly understandable that you didn't want to swing right in front of the car you passed, but there's merit in turning your signal on a bit early while you continue gaining ground, so that way everyone knows what you're doing. No one involved had any way of knowing how long you planned to be in the left lane.

Best course would be to illegally access a database to get his address and then go to his house and teach him a lesson. Keep us posted.

You're a dumb arse. If a car is going 65 MPH and I'm going 80 MPH then it's going to take me a little over 3 seconds to build that 70 feet of distance between me and them.

Only good advice I've found in this thread so far.

It's only wrong if you don't tell us the aftermath of what happens.

Sounds like you were in the wrong. Logistically he couldn't pull off that move without you being a left lane rider.

I’m trying to figure out your username. You’re an LSU alum but pull for Bama?

Last time I got into it with a Chrysler 300 on the interstate they flashed a gun at me. Consider yourself lucky

The guy was probably road raging after what happened Saturday night and got flipped off in the process.

BS. I only ride in the left lane if I'm passing cars.

Why? Pop a road flare and place it under one of the tires. He won’t be flipping birds out of that car the next day.

You're going 80 so you're probably in the left lane all the time.

Yes, but I don't just ride it in. I stay in it as long as I'm consistently passing cars.
