So many ways to go with this.

I agree that the breed needs to go. There are plenty of other dogs that will love you just as much as a pit-bull. I'm not saying exterminate them, I say let the breed die out. Kill those without owners, and outlaw the breeding of those left. Stories like these are completely unnecessary, just quick being a contrite piece of shite or a complete piece of trash and get a dog that's not so dangerous. What if cat people started keeping mountain lions because they pure when you pet them and they poo in the litter box?

Here's my question..I have no doubt that pitbulls can be a loving dog.....but why can't you get love from a breed of dog that isn't as powerful if it does get violent? Is the love from a pit bull more satisfying than what a lab gives?or are SOME people more interested in the "I'll do what I want" mentality.

This is my thinking as well. Why do you HAVE to have the far and away most dangerous breed? Normally I'm a libertarian but there are dozens of other breeds that are far less likely to get away from you and kill someone else's kid. At the very least they should be banned from neighborhoods and cities. And to the people that say "pit bull" is a relative term that people mistakenly use to describe a wide range of dogs- just include all of those breeds that are "falsely classified" as pits. Whatever you call them, they're killing people much more than other breeds. Hell, throw rottweilers in there too if the data supports it. If you want to own a dog like that, you should have to get a permit and live in a rural or isolated location

We had a dog one time (a mutt) that was attacked by 2 pit bulls.

My dad put a piece of lead pipe to the side of one of the dogs head and then when it was a fair fight our "mutt" tore up the other pit.

So to say one breed of dog is more dangerous than another is a major misconception. Dogs are aggressive based on how they are raised.

my mom and dad had a lab and an akita that both could put their front paws on my shoulders when they wanted too. They would bite (not hard when rough housing) but playfully. They loved kids and were very protective of my mom and family. They were raised right but if raised wrong they both could have easily taken down a full grown man

frick pitbulls, and if you have them, frick you too. You're blatantly obtuse. Also, just admit you have them because of their reputation, because quite honestly, there are much better all around dogs.

People do this. Do you generalize their entire race or gender based on the race or gender of the perpetrator?

The OT does this all day every day, actually.

I had a great pitbull, he changed my view on the breed. The truth is though those dogs have two scary traits, the jaw strength they all have and the aggressive nature. Even the nicest ones have these traits some people make the dogs work out these traits even more and others go so far as to intentionally make these dogs mean. You can make a very mean Labrador, but you aren't going to make a lab that can snap your neck in a bite or crush a femur with it's jaw strength.

So now they have packs of pit bulls roaming around Detroit? That city needs to be incinerated.

I don't think I've ever met a mean Labrador.. Unsociable ones, sure, but I've never feared being bitten around one.

Maybe it's that trash usually gravitates towards pit bulls, and rational/responsible people gravitate towards a dog like a Labrador. Or maybe pit bulls just suck in general.

The hipsters are starting to move in now, so taxes will actually be paid in. I think Detroit will look a lot different in 10 years, and for the better.
