Watch guys care about the part of the watch that you can’t see, which is also the reason for the price disparity.
I know, that’s why i said to give the dad the price difference.

That is about as accurate as me saying I have a 12" johnson. That being said it is true most Swiss mechanical watches in the $1200 and under range will have an ETA 2824, 2892 or a clone/close variation based on the ETA architecture.
Really? kind of the point
Dont be such a try hard, you contradicted yourself in the space of two sentences.
There was no need to discuss inhouse movements in this thread as it aint happening near that price point in what the OP is looking for.

I haven't worn one in many decades. The only people I see wearing watches today, wear big Rolexes and work for a friend who owns an oil company. He never wears a watch.
The last friend I have seen with a watch wore a cheap Timex around 1980. He became a top dog in Shell offshore globally before retiring.

Even in an age of moronic opinions, the idea that it’s crazy or wrong to wear a watch stands out.

That may have been your point that watches in the price range use stock movements from several companies that are extremely similar but it isn't what you said:
quote:
Tissot uses the same movements all the Swiss companies other than Rolex do, just check the model you like and see what is under the hood.
If you had limited your statement to the price point it would be accurate but especially when you mentioned Rolex, which starts at ~5 times the OP's limit it was easy to construe your point completely differently.

I didn't contradict myself at all. I clarified it was true at the price point which you did not do. My statements were objectively correct, your statement was objectively wrong and could mislead people who aren't as familiar with the subject matter.

Agreed, you just kinda broached the subject and included a potentially misleading statement for others that might read the thread. It isn't WUS it is tOT and some people could easily think all Swiss use the same movements except Rolex which is what you said. I just did a little housecleaning.

I never said wrong, just that most people don't seem to need one these days
