Can someone have the registration changed on a vehicle without the owner being present with the title to prove ownership?
Back story: My elderly Dad sold his car and we are in the process of finding a newer one and upgrading him. In the mean time he will be driving old truck I have. When he went to turn in his plate he asked about getting a handicapped tag for the truck. These jackasses took the plate from his car which was registered ( 2018 ) in his name and put it on my truck which is registered (2020) in my name. So the truck has a plate with a 2018 expiration date and a registration inside with a 2020 date. I know this is fricked up more than a soup sandwich.

I love Italian wedding soup sandwiches.

Should be able to just sign the title and get it notarized. Then take it and get the title changed.

Not changing the title. He is just driving it temporary until we get him a new one in the next week or so.

Why are you changing the plates on a truck he is going to drive for a week?

I am not, that's the point. He just asked about a temporary handicap tag and they proceeded to transfer the plate from his car he was turning in to my truck.
