A few followup words to the Thai cave rescue from one of the Brits

He was among the four Brits who did the transporting of the young boys, and he was called to Thailand from his real life job.
His interview indicates some of the differences in approach by the Thai divers and the international diving protocols. Also interesting (well, there's lots interesting but here are two)
The Thai Seals who went in to be with the boys didn't themselves have enough air to get out, but they followed orders.
The Brit divers knew immediately upon getting to where the boys were that the air was getting worse and could not keep them alive for four months. Also the way they tested individual boys for determining the boys' health.
IMO a great read that brings back the wonderfulness of the rescue.

Elon runs a couple companies that could do some real good if he would step aside and let people who understand production take care of things past the big idea phase but holy shite he is such a thin skinned loser whenever it comes to criticism.
The diver is right that the sub would have been worthless. Just looking at the pictures of what they were having to do should clue him into that.
I hope this guy sues him for slander.

Starting to turn on him. He's gone full Trump without anything to back it up other than some good ideas. Dont get me wrong the dude is good to keep tech moving, but he's pissing money away. Investors are breathing down his neck i'm sure.

From the Guardian several more things I haven't seen elsewhere.
When only the Thai divers were searching the cave, two of their teams were temporarily lost.
One of the Chinese divers apologized for wearing bedroom slippers to a news briefing, because his feet are still healing from being continuously wet for two weeks. He said his feet were "macerated".
I can't conceive of how much that is.

Just had to go there himself and get himself into the cave and take up valuable time getting people to explain things to him. By that time, each hour had value, workers were drop dead tired, just keeping the pumps running was so important. And there came Mr. Musk with his cylinder.
Odds are the dude has never been in a cave, and never will be again. But that didn't stop him from getting his name out there and filling Twitter with his thoughts.
The thoughts that saved the boys came from people who knew what they were doing, not dilletants.

Thanks for posting the link, I had questioned if the Thai Navy divers had in training in cave diving when I saw the equipment they were diving with on TV, and really questioned if they should be doing this when their diver died, this article confirms the concerns I had.

Has anybody asked the coach why he thought it was a good idea to allow his team to go into the cave without checking the weather forecast?

It looked like they were only using 3 or 4 six inch pumps from the small amount of pics I saw. You can bet your arse there were bigger somewhere in that country

What was wild was that the Thai government was going to keep them in the cave until

You weren't the only one who noticed that.
In Malaysia, the President of the largest pump company in SE Asia (and he happens to be married to a Thai) saw the pumps being used and did several things: he sent his engineers there and they worked on the pumps and as more pumps arrived, they made sure that there was enough power to keep them going. He reported that they upped the output of the pumps on site by 40%.
I saw this in one article and haven't been able to rmember which SEAsia newspaper had it.
Upping the pump capacity was so important.
The other thing: farmers who grow crops at the foot of the mountains were getting the water dumped on their crops and their crops were flooded (which is bad for everything but rice). They didn't go running to lawyers and they didn't complain. When asked they said basically whatever it takes to get the boys out is more important than their crops.

That's a moving sentiment but those farmers making a crop or not will determine whether their family has food on the table this year. I hope they have some compensation, otherwise they will also be victims, except the world wont be paying attention.
