A family friend and Korean War vet died during the pandemic

He was beloved by my hometown as he coached the high school tennis team and was very active in his church and the community. His daughter was my mom's best friend growing up and he was like a second father to my mother during that time. Sadly he passed away during the pandemic due to issues not related to Covid-19. But because of the restrictions in place no one was allowed to be there at his death bed. He died alone, no friends or relatives by his side. And his funeral was a small affair with only the immediate family allowed to attend to pay their respects.
Fast forward to John Lewis. This man got a state funeral which had attendees in the thousands, with notables such as a former U.S. president giving the eulogy about his life. When I compare and contrast the family friend with this man, I can't help but get pissed off at the hypocrisy of it all. When an average American dies, no one gives a shite. You're not allowed to attend the funeral and you're lucky if you are allowed to say good-bye before they pass. But an elected official dies and all of a sudden the country has to come to a halt, social distancing rules have to go out the window, all so we can give this man a proper send off.
It's very aggravating. Anyway...rant over. CSB.

One of the most disturbing things about this pandemic
We are keeping kids from their dying parents, grandparents
We are keeping parents from their dying kids
Distant relatives & family friends are not able to properly say goodbye
Yet we allow massive funerals for criminals & politicians
I have a huge problem with this & have nothing nice to say about the people who put these procedures in place
ETA
I am sorry for your loss

This country needs a purge of government. They have become a ruling class, not elected voices of their constituents.

Your friend was a hero. He was a man, and what this country is built upon. I know that just from your words.
The world has dealt so many people a crappy hand this year. We make the best of it, just as your friend chose to do. We may not be able to make sense of it, but we do the best we can. Your friend was a man, who I am sure was well set to meet his passing. Be there for those who loved and cherished him. Honor him. The love so many had for him is evident, and let that comfort you.
Let the man he was be another reason to be a good, honorable person, and see to it that his memory is honored. It is all you, or anyone, can really do.
I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

For what it’s worth that is heartbreaking and I am sorry for you and your family, and this breaks my heart. Bless him and we should all thank him for his service. Thank You sir & Rest In Peace.
This should not go unnoticed all deaths are important and none is more important than another.
I am so sorry for your loss and grateful for his service to all of us.

This world is just not right, we are living in a bizaroo world. Your friend was what a true hero is. A giver to his country and community and he most certainly deserves a respectful send off.

This country gave a known pos criminal with a record long as my leg the funeral of royalty. Let that sink in.

Even more egregious is the fact a life long criminal who had the misfortune of be killed in an unjust way got multiple funerals with thousands in attendance ALL for the sake of virtue signaling while THOUSANDS (and counting) of good contributing members of society (of all races) had very limited final send offs.
That should piss off ALL good people (of any race, creed or color) as the government, through their actions, explicitly said his life was more important than your family member’s
