The dog got me. Almost always happens. Same with the mute button.

And yes, not as often, but it has happened ... the toilet flushing.

I was on a call between a dozen or so health plans when someone let out a huge burp.

Followed a few minutes later by someone(had to be same guy) taking a piss.

Made even better by the fact 90% of the callers were female so I was crying in my office from the reactions.

A former coworker of mine would use his second phone and call into the conference line - and had both phones on speaker - causing a huge echo on the line - he did this only when one woman would speak - she ended up switching phones, replacing phones and finally be asked not to speak (over the course of several months).

Everyone thought it was her phone, because it only happened when she spoke. Needless to say, no one missed the value that she brought to the call.

Edited to add ...

We would text each other during the call and would be dying in absolute hilarity. He would let her speak for a moment ... send me a text and say, "watch this or enough of this" and boom ... the reverberation and echo would start."

False. No one was in their underwear or still in bed.

I have people stopping by my office all the time when I'm on calls. I'm waiting for the day I'm not on mute and talking rubbish during a call.

I normally stay quiet.

Someone else will undoubtedly make the ill advised attempt at using the call to express their frustrations and be shot down with the quickness.

You're asking for trouble doing conference calls on mobile. Nothing good can happen.

When I worked on the floor as a nurse our monthly staff meetings would be at 7:30 am(when the night nurses are just getting off work). If I worked the night before I would just call into the meeting on my drive home from work and be muted(it is not like I needed to actually say much in the meeting). That way I was already home and ready to go straight to sleep once the meeting ended.

I think Geico got it right. I am on calls all the time with multiple people all trying to speak at once, then they all stop talking and try again with the same result. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so aggravating. And I have an overweight consultant who sits behind me and is on calls non-stop. She is loud and distracting. No less than 2 times yesterday she rambled on for about a minute before realizing she was on mute.

The best is when someone puts the whole call on hold and nobody can hear anything.

We had a call with a potential vendor recently that shared his screen and had info about our competitors on it. My boss was writing it down frantically and I texted him a screen shot
