It could mean that your attic is too humid, which can cause issues with the electric terminals on the unit's chipboard in the attic.
This happened to me Sunday morning. I did the same thing, and mine kicked back on.
Thats an interesting thought.

Did you have a slight loss of power or were multiple things used in the house being turned on at the same time the compressor decided to kick on?
I've had an issue with a brownout causing both my units to turn off at the same time then turn on. With everything else turning on at the same time it shocked the system.
Turned AC off for 30 minutes turned on...everything was golden

Could be a faulty expansion valve. The newer ones have plastic parts. If it’s your expansion valve, have your AC guy install an entirely metal one.

What? I set it to 73 late afternoon. 77 when I leave for work so it won’t run all day bc it gets hot and humid by mid day and I try to keep it from running non-stop. I’d have it lower if I could but am afraid it will freeze up. I have a window unit in den and bedroom (hurricane units and not street facing) so I use those overnight and when I’m home set at 64 lol. My unit is only 5 years old so idk what the issue is and why it can’t keep up. I’m going to have attic insulation checked bf I do anything.

Can act up intermittently over months.
Kinda like a bad woman.

room temperature air coming through vents. Left it running and about 20min later it felt like the house was cooling down and check the vents and cold air blowing as normal now.
A cheap infrared thermometer gun is handy at such times. Sometimes it's hard to tell by feel how cool the air is coming out of the vents. A quick check with the gun on a register (after the air has been running a while) will help confirm whether it's your imagination.
Per AI, "The air coming from your AC vents should ideally be 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than the air entering the return vents." My registers right now are reading 57-60 (air coming out is likely slightly colder), with intake/return vent at 73.
You can spend some $ on one, but I got a Harbor Freight model for less than $20, and it's lasted probably 15 years so far.
It's also handy for checking the temps of items in fridge and freezer when you think something is amiss with the appliance, or the surface of your pizza steel/stone.

You are putting your AC through hell. Set it at one temp all day and have it maintain. The exception would be at night when the sun isn't up and it doesn't have to work so hard.
