Hell of an accomplishment. Congrats
What he said, this is more than a "bit of a victory." It's huge, and wonderful.
Congratulations many times over.

Amazing story, congrats to you and your family.
I don't know why I am so angry, but I want to find out who gave you the 2 thumbs down and junk punch them......

Thanks to those who responded. We are truly elated.
Several of you asked questions in the thread. Instead of answering each and extending the thread, I thought I would just do it in one response.
She was diagnosed at 3 years of age. Failing to communicate and meltdowns. Also, weird phobias.
Through speech therapy and working to make her "live in our world" she began to come around in the third grade. She really turned the corner in HS. Marching band, social interactions and later driving forced her to focus. Her grades have been average(not great). She has a questionable work ethic. It is really hard to get her to do things she doesn't want to do.
When she scored over 20 on the ACT with no assistance I thought it was possible. We envisioned her going to JUCO (Which is probably the best idea anyway) at best before. Her GPA is somewhere around 2.6.
For those who have kids with autism, stay firm. It is easy to give the child to "their world" and what they want to do. There will be fights, arguments and an occasional butt whooping needed but it is crucial to keep the child engaged and in the lines.
Caroline, our daughter, has not picked a major. I think she would be great in criminal justice. She sees very well in black and white. She likes marketing for the moment and possibly social work for others on the spectrum. We will see.
Thanks for the responses. It truly made my day. We aren't there yet, but we are trying!

Eastern is a great school and she’ll love it... had many of friends go to EIU from high school and they love Charleston.
Congrats to ur daughter and you as well! You’re living life right. The work’s just beginning!!!

I replied to you on the first page about myself attending Eastern in the fall. I'm currently a student at Lake Land. I'm a veteran, so an older non traditional student.
If she is interested in criminal justice, perhaps look at Lake Land College (Mattoon). It's cheaper tuition and most students end up going to Eastern from there (EIU is 10 mins away). It also has a great criminal justice program. It is a community college, but it is one of the best in the State.
More beneficial, Lake Land (like EIU) has free book rental and free tutoring. That's something a lot of places don't offer that might come in handy for the first 2 years. Class sizes are small, I think my largest classes have had about 25-30 max. Also, will give your daughter options if Eastern would continue to suffer because of the State Budget issues.
I know she could go to a school/community college closer to you in Bloomington, but this area is nice down here. Slow paced and small communities. If she's wanting to go to Eastern, I think it would be good, with what she has gone through. If you do need any info or have questions about the area, ask anytime man. Also, if she does go to school down here, perhaps our families could meet up and go to a game or something, if you are visiting.
Again congrats to your daughter and family
