That building's not there anymore!

We would pass that every day on the bus in Jr High!

Kinda going off that....Can we talk about how there's a freaking money divide between the Lakefront and Monroe street and then a few streets and then the neighborhoods in Old Mandeville?

Like From the lakefront to the first few blocks deep it's wealthy, then as you approach Monroe, it drops off big time. Then you cross Monroe and it gets worse, then approaching Florida it climbs back up in places.

It's either that or the houses are older around Monroe.

Anyone remember when there as an Arbys on 190? Then it was kenny Rogers and an arcade?

I love Arbys.

I remember riding my go cart on the golf course where home depot and Wal-Mart are located.

A T&D is in the works to be developed there now.

Also, Copeland will most likely be building a hotel on that property

Old Wal-Mart (pre-supercenter) where books a million was (now 2nd and Charles) where Walmart/home Depot are used to be a golf course. I still remember stealing railroad spikes off the old tracks behind greenleaves before they made it the trace.

By Sunset?
That's actually gonna be pretty cool. A hotel just seems out of place there.

Wasn't it Fun Arcade? Then I think it turned into a restaurant called Wholly Mackerel, and then burned down. Lol

Yeah. They want to use the land where all of the causeway concrete is. People have seen the success of Terra Bella in Covington also which is another reason this is being discussed.

On the hotel, the idea is that Covington currently has the majority of the hotels. I think Mandeville has only one off of 59.

Bringing a hotel to mandeville would hopefully spark some more commerce that is currently going all to 190 in Covington.

Most likely won't be a big one. But at least something.

As you can imagine, the project has a long way to go. Infrastructure, approvals from parish, city, etc. As with all things political, I would imagine many road blocks ahead. But it is a real discussion and proposal.

Kenny Rogers Roasters, there were two, one in Mandeville and one on East Gause in Slidell. If I recall correctly the franchisee's accountant made off with serious bank and they closed.

Also $7.00 per person "fast food" chicken meals in 1995 dollars didn't help either.

It was good eating, FWIW.
