Not that it was all the weed he's likely ever smuggled but selling 9 pounds of weed isn't worth shite these days

It's a shame that they are wasting time and money arresting half baked stoners for weed.

There are plenty of weird people that fly in and out of MSY everyday that don't get searched. They still needed some type of reasonable suspicion to search the guy(other than he looks like a pot head).

When was he caught? After landing from Cali with the weed? If so, he probably isn't stoned at all. When would he have had a chance to smoke?
I'm sure this was not the first time attempting this. Most likely a few successful trips until finally getting caught. 9lbs isn't as much as it sounds.

To check his luggage (or give it a second look), I'm pretty sure that's all they need.
Actually, they don't really need that - or anything - if I'm not mistaken, under the current guidelines.

Have you ever been around even an ounce of weed? If it's good you can smell it through the bag. I'm sure 9 pounds let off a little bit of a scent, this guy doesn't look like he was smart enough to try to conceal the smell
