I heard about a car being broken into somewhere off of highway 435 past abita about a year ago. That's about it though around my hood.

That’s what happens when you turn the gun sideways.

Mandeville

Well there was a rape by the lakefront and old dude from Mandeville killed his wife in December. Had the kid with a pistol/cocaine/weed that wanted to sell drugs at school as well.

ETA: dude was arrested in April for child porn

I mean, if you look there are bad people in all places. The areas might not be trashy, but the people are.

I don't really care about Ruston, someone else can find you that info.

Abita Springs had a double murder in 2016 and a single murder in 2017. In 2015 there was a dude arrested for a crap ton of child porn.

There was a couple arrested for dealing drugs on 435 as well.

This thread is hilarious. I grew up there and that few blocks of town is the Covington hood. It starts at 26th street right across the train tracks and ends where it meets Columbia Street about seven blocks later. My cousins from Baton Rouge and Mississippi used to come and visit and say the same thing- "this is the nicest hood I've ever seen. There are of course elements of trashy people walking the streets but there are also good, hard-working people who live there. The area in the West 30's is gentrifying as we speak with houses being converted into offices and renovated residences starting from the Justice Center. There are reliable incidents of crime there of course-not denying it-but it is absolutely contained to that area from Jefferson to the Parish Jail and Columbia to the Train tracks. Shoultz's grocery(now the I-stop) has always been the gathering place. I've been wanting to try that restaurant right across from the Old Community Center. Looks pretty decent- maybe even the Silver Moon of Covington. Covington is the best place in the Northshore hands down. Downtown and the Old Covington can't be beat. Hate away in ignorance.
