Was in Algebra. Heard about it and we talked about it in every class as more and more info came out.
After school, went home and glued to TV like everyone else.
It was unreal to watch it all unfold.

I was in the shower at home when they were talking about the first one. I was listening to the Rick & Bubba show on the radio. At that time they thought it was an accident. I got out of the shower and was drying off in my bedroom while watching live footage on the TV when the second one plane hit.
I went on into work and it struck me how fricked up it was that hardly anyone in my office really thought it was a big deal.

I was working for Worldcom in Cary, NC. Watched the second flight crash into the WTC live on CNN.
The FAA network operations center was two floors below me. Once it was a confirmed terrorist attack, security parked two large dump trucks at the entrance to our building in case of a suicide car bomber attempting to take out the FAA network.
We had a view of Raleigh/Durham airport. Watching the planes land was surreal. I remember Raleigh residents banding together to host/feed stranded passengers at the airport
An obviously small historic tidbit:
The WTC collapse took out the highest concentration of telecom equipment in the country (140 West Street). Worldcom assisted Verizon in restoring the connections to the NYSE/Nasdaq so trading could resume. Gigantic cables were temporarily strung out of windows and down the exterior of 55 Water Street (WorldCom DMS 500 switch location) so that Lower Manhatten could regain phone/internet service.
