re: 8,800 flights delayed on Sunday, 7,000 delayed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday delays

On the average "normal" day, greater than 25% of US domestic flights are delayed. If bad weather in certain regions, add 15 TO 20%.
A "delayed" flight is any flight 15+ minutes beyond its scheduled arrival.
What is sounds like is this is no more than a high-normal day.
Based upon news reports, a few of the airline/TSA related unions are collectively suffering from TDS, and could very well be purposely causing disruptions.
I'm not a doctor (though I am a recreational gynecologist), so I'm no expert on this, but I don't believe the sky is falling yet.

Weird. Forbes article from June of 2023 states 7-9k flights are delayed daily.
