Well had the Germans won the death toll from the Holocaust would have been astronomically higher. The eradication of Europe's Jews would be but a drop in the bucket compared to what the German's had in store for European Russia.

Basically what the German's planned on doing was making room for all of European Russia to become new "living space" for Germany. Hitler and the Nazis envisioned German pioneers settling the conquered lands in the east similar to what we Americans did in the American west in the second half of the 19th century.

The only problem with the Nazis plan is this land already was full of Russians. The German plan for making room for their "pioneers" was to kill every man, woman, and child of Russian decent on the European side of the Urals. This would be done mostly through forced labor and/or starvation. We're talking death of somewhere over 100 million people.

Still think the world would be better?

BTW, anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of how Hitler came to power (not to mention the rest of his story), here's a great link....

Darth, going slightly OT, a coworker and I got into a discussion about if Germany could have taken Britain.

I said they could based on:

If they left Russia alone; not switched tactics to hitting the cities instead of the airfields; and using the Uboats to totally cut off the island.

Agree/disagree?

I disagree completely. First off, Germany did not have enough U-boats to gain control of the channel if the British sortied the entire Home Fleet. British corvettes and destroyers would have swept the channel clean while British capital ships would have obliterated the slow moving barges the Germans would be using to move the Wehrmacht across the Channel. It would have been a complete slaughter.

Not sure I agree with that. The Germans had the RAF on its knees. Had they finished the job, they would have had control over the air. Aircover, and the German Navy could have controlled the seas.

Well the "enabling act" basically gave Hitler the power to hand down just about any executive action he wanted while the Reichstag Fire Decree for all intents and purposes put Germany under a state of Martial Law.

German U-Boats were past the "happy hunting days" in '41 when the Royal Navy got radar that could pick up the wolf pack. That innovation lost the battle for the Atlantic for the u-boats.

HISTORY BOARD!!!!MAKE TD GREAT AGAIN!!

False.

Hitler was never elected to any position in Germany.

We can't talk about Hitler without bringing up Wagner. And since no one else has yet done so, allow me...

Jews aren't supposed to whistle Wagner
