Well, we know where the good genes came from.

Didn't read the whole thread but as someone with a measured IQ of 158, actual psych administered test not online crap, it's really not as telltale as people think. Education came easy for me my entire life, unfortunately this led to my increasing level of laziness. So here I sit, intelligent and woefully short of my projected lot in life (aka doing the same shite that people who barely graduated high school can do)

Probably because you were recognized and praised for being a precocious little frick since you were a kid, and the incentives/affirmation you received as a child told you that you could achieve everything based on your intelligence rather than your ability to work.

ETA: AND without having an overbearing obsession with a particular subject

i imagine he may have some personality overlap with me. reading about being INTJ and it's supreme desire for efficiency means that when you add in super intelligence, school life is one big mission to find the easiest (aka laziest) ways to get the grades

that's how you get through law school with OK grades without reading

now the drawback, and i realize this now in my old age, is that you miss out on actual learning the stuff you graded out well on. that's where "wasted life" comes from. the building blocks to success deal with mastery and then leveling up to master that level. when your personality and intelligence are based in raw efficiency, mastery is left behind

what you usually get is either hyper focus in one or 2 areas (typically not economically useful areas) of insane mastery OR a "jack of all trades and master of none" which severely restricts personal and professional growth (especially when combined with extreme Introversion of the INTJ)

Lol no brag, the only thing I'd have to brag about has gotten me absolutely nothing in life

Welcome to being an ENTP, hopping around with different interests, hoping you find one that sticks. I only finished my JD as part of an inheritance requirement, I don't really enjoy practicing.

Not really, you just aren’t use to it. I’m 5’8, I’m use to it, not intimidating at all for me to be around a tall person.

If you are the IQ equivalent to a 5'8" male (no offense), then you would probably be used to it, too.

When you are below the average distribution, it is pretty common for you to encounter someone in the higher deviations. When you are in a very high deviation, it is pretty jarring to encounter someone above your own.

i don't mind it currently but i'm not making big bucks. i use my "jack of all trades" to try and figure out other aspects of being a lawyer (most effective marketing, SEO, most efficient areas, etc).

i do very low intelligence-dependent areas and represent people below my intelligence level, but i'm carving out a niche on purpose.

the problem is i have to feed my brain in other areas. i was doing that with poker but the gf doesn't like the long hours away so i have to find new stuff. going to re-learn spanish next year and then maybe do python.

None taken, I don’t think much about it. I just know it’s nice not hitting my head on shite all the time. I understand the point of your other post though.

I guess, I've done nothing but manual labor since I was 14 (19 years ago) and have been continuously employed since then but sure I probably have an inability to work rather than preferring to work with my hands instead of my brain

One of the top guys in my law school class was like a god to me because he was high all the time and I remember he walked out of the bar exam like an hour before I finished -- of course, he got one of the highest scores of anyone I know. I think he did have some demons, though, so I'm guessing that comes with the territory.

frick just learning a language, dude, spill out the money and get a comprehensive understanding of computer science. A year with WGU is $6,400, and it is all competency based. I'm learning cybersecurity for shits and giggles.

the frick? was it a education level requirement or did it have to be law school? Too each his own, but forcing someone into a career is fricky.

What kind of manual labor?

I think you (also, SFP as well) should read Shop Class as Soulcraft by Michael Schumacher.

I had to finish a professional degree, be married with kids, or turn 35. I didn't have to pay for the degree, either, so it wasn't a terrible burden.

Carpentry, chopping surveying lines with a brush knife, plumbing, welder/fitter helper, heavy goods delivery, rigging. Now I have 2 acre garden that I tend to by hand bc the tractor broke last year. Stuff like that

My man, if you are near enough to a city, you can legitimately make 65-80k in revenue off of this plot if you have connections with restaurants and grow the right things. You can do it by yourself, as you well know.

ETA: potentially a lot more if you can invest in greenhouses, specifically ones with an aquaponic setup
