Vancouver was one of the first cities in Canada to proudly unveil a carbon tax that has continued to escalate year after year.

Now they can introduce a sugary drink tax and nobody will be able to afford to drive out of town to buy Coke.

Why and how the hell do people live there?

Even better how about this from the article

quote:

The province of B.C. is also in an energy war with neighboring Alberta over the construction of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline, something environmental activists and the B.C. government oppose. In retaliation, Alberta introduced legislation last week to restrict oil and gas exports to B.C. that will push up prices even more.

Can you imagine States doing that here. California cutting off our vegetable supply or Texas/Louisiana cutting off oil and gas to other states.

How do people live in San Francisco or Manhattan?

They make a lot of money or inherited a lot of money.

And/or likely spend everything they earn and don’t save a thing creating even larger gaps in wealth in this country.

Chinese nationals buying real estate there has pushed housing prices beyond what the average person can afford. So the burbs are exploding.

Vancouver also has major homelessness and drug problems.

Don't they have zones where all drugs are legal like Hamsterdam on the Wire?
