This one is both true and "false" at the same time. They aren't considered legumes because "they grow in the ground." They are legumes because that's that plant family they belong to, Fabaceae. The fruiting bodies of many legumes don't develop underground, but they are still legumes. Also, since the word peanut is a compound word and not spelled "pea nut," it's not really claiming to be a nut according to the rules of naming things. Like how a sweetgum is not a true gum tree, but I digress.

i could be wrong, but i just calculated that out and 1 penny a day doubled for a month would be like 10 million and change. so i would take the million a day

You're not.

Judging from some of the responses to this thread, I wonder how some people fricking remember to breathe and wish they wouldn't.

My youngest daughter had this. Didn't think it is as common as 1 in 5,000

One that I heard that seems fairly dubious is that there are more possible different games of chess than atoms in the observable universe.

I can believe that one.

Just look at how many different opening moves there are. White can move any of the 8 pawns one space or two spaces, or the king knight or queen knight to either of two different spots. So that's 20 possible opening moves. Black has the same 20 opening moves, so just 2 moves into the game you have 400 different possible positions.

Assuming White opened by moving the pawn in front of the king, White can now move any of the other 7 pawns 1 or 2 spaces, move the king pawn another space, move a knight to any one of five spaces (since the space in front of the king is now open), or move the king side bishop to any of five different spaces. That's 25 different possible moves (26 if Black countered with P-Q4 and White can capture). So (without working out every possibility for the third move), we're already over 10,000 possible games. Each move, at least in the early going, increases the number of possibilities for the subsequent move.
