But he's wrong, and dead wrong if we're talking about pit bulls. All men may be created equal, but not all dogs. Says Katherine Houpt, director of the Animal Behavior Clinic at Cornell and author of Domestic Animal Behavior: "Different breeds have genetic predispositions to certain kinds of behavior, though that can be influenced by how they are raised. The pit bull is an innately aggressive breed, often owned by someone who wants an aggressive dog, so they're going to encourage it."

Pit bulls are genetically wired to kill other dogs.

First, the pit bull is quicker to anger than most dogs, probably due to the breed's unusually high level of the neurotransmitter L-tyrosine. Second, pit bulls are frighteningly tenacious; their attacks frequently last for 15 minutes or longer, and nothing—hoses, violent blows or kicks—can easily stop them. That's because of the third behavioral anomaly: the breed's remarkable insensitivity to pain

Most dogs beaten in a fight will submit the next time they see the victor. Not a defeated pit bull, who will tear into his onetime vanquisher. This, too, has to do with brain chemistry. The body releases endorphins as a natural painkiller. Pit bulls seem extra-sensitive to endorphins and may generate higher levels of the chemical than other dogs. Endorphins are also addictive: "The dogs may be junkies, seeking pain so they can get the endorphin bu

They've created a kind of pit bull with what I call `undifferentiated aggression.' " A Milwaukee man learned this the hard way in January, when he tried to break up a fight between his two pit bulls and had one forearm ripped off and the other so badly mauled that doctors later had to amputate it.

I think you proved my point while trying to prove yours

Do you understand what innately aggressive means?

I have a chihuahua, and I hate pits. With that said, I can almost understand the attack

It is a matter of upbringing
then why do some places have laws banning pit bulls? Shouldnt they just ban the people that own the pit bulls since it's the owners fault and not the dogs?

Of course. You seem to be having a hard time understanding this:

Those places lack the intelligence, open-mindedness and common sense the great people of Boulder possess. My little baw is voice and sight certified by the city and runs around off leash in designated open spaces. How many places do you think have a similar program? An elite, forward thinking community gets to have nice things and no breed bans

You asked me to link you showing scientific research showing they were genenitaccly predisposed to be dangerous dogs, which I did
Of course grooming can make them worse, but they already have genetic predisposition to kill.

Damn, the chihuahuas had numbers
Posted on 1/22/18 at 2:48 pm to RogerTheShrubber
The research proved both of our points actually
ETA - Y'all should go spend some time on r/pitbulls. I think you would like it there

All of the pit bulls were turned over to animal services and euthanized after the incident.
At least there was a happy ending to the story.

How has only one person in this thread noted that the dog in the OPs picture is not a pit bull?
Seems like this is extremely sloppy reporting.

The real problem is that the beasts were euthanized “after” they killed the sweet little smaller defenseless doggies. We all know PBs will eventually kill something.

I'm on the pit bulls side here, if a Chihuahua was that size it would be more dangerous.

No thank you HippieTiger, I happen to enjoy having arms and legs and would like to keep my blood in my body.
