I can get an AK on the streets right now with a couple phone calls for probably less than $200 and I don't even associate with that element

I purchased a high powered semi auto rifle just last week in one phone call. Of course it's clean mind you, but it's a joke with LA's no registration gun laws.

Want an AK tomorrow? and here you go

And yet, murders in Chicago are at 51 year lows.

I forgot, does Obama get credit for good news or not?

I misread it, I thought it was talking about the 4th of July shootings.
That's why I said I thought it happened again

I take it you've never seen such classics as Thuggin' It and Lovin' It and Jig City. Those boys have all kinds of fun guns.

It's just not that simple. While confined to certain neighborhoods/zip codes, it is still pretty diffuse, as Chicago is a geographically huge city (as mentioned previously). Furthermore, the poverty and violence keeps getting pushed further and further away from the center of the city to the periphery as rapid gentrification and public housing demolition continues unabated. You won't see Rahm Emanuel on any anti-gentrification panels - like one saw with the mayors of Baltimore and Atlanta - any time soon.

In addition to that, the violence in Chicago isn't as organized as it was ten years ago. No longer is this largely factions determining economic/turf disputes via the end of a barrel...it's become mostly young kids settling personal beefs (with social media playing a big role in it) and taking anyone affiliated down with them. That's a little harder to control.

when stuff like this happens on the deep southside or far west side (where 98% of it does), it might as well be in another state. It is pretty confined to certain neighborhoods.

True. It's one of the most segregated cities in America. There's people in the Southside that's never even been downtown before.

Downtown Chicago is one of the cleanest, nicest cities you'll see.

Gov. Quinn, a Democrat, repeated his call for new laws to curb the availability of assault weapons and large ammunition magazines, speaking in violence-plagued Morgan Park on the city's South Side. "There are too many victims of a war being waged on our streets, a war fueled in part by the availability of deadly, military-style assault weapons that have no purpose other than killing," Quinn said.

Wanna know how I know Quinn is a moron?

Chicago has in the last 20 years: banned all handguns, a ban that was only struck down a few years ago.
-required live fire training in order to obtain a gun permit, then banned firing ranges, which prevents live fire training.
-banned any and all gun stores within city limits.
Illinois and Chicago especially is one of the worst places in the country from the perspective of gun rights supporters, and one of the best from the perspective of gun control proponents. So, if the gun control proponents are right in their claim that civilian disarmament prevents violence, why is their so much gun violence in Chicago, one of the most disarmed cities in the country? How do they explain this?

Gun violence has only gone down in Chicago over the past 20 years...so what is your point?

How's that compare to other places with dissimilar gun regulations?

You tell me. All I know is that gun violence is at 51 year lows in Chicago and that the rate has been plummeting for 2 decades. Not a single person who has been bleating about "Chiraq" has seen fit to mention those facts.

Vilent crime and gun crime has been plummeting in the U.S. As a whole since the 90s.
