3rd Sinus surgery coming up....

Synopsis, tore acl in 2014 use cadaver ligament to replace. Started have issues with mucus build up etc causing some small breathing problems. Also, sinus headaches for a while decided to see ENT in Lafayette. Did Cat scan discovered polyps did 1st sinus surgery. Started once again to have constant mucus buildup/chest congestion.
Seen pulmonary dr. Said I had asthma. Started doing Symbicort morning and night same shite. Go see Dr. Give me prednisone and anti biotics. Would be fine for 4-5 weeks then same process.
Did 2nd sinus surgery got put on allergy shots, few months same mucus buildup. Left that sinus dr. Went to allergist for test. Finds out I'm not allergic to what they were giving me shots for and got me off of the shots. Once again same flair up.
Went see another ENT same thing finally did another cat scan polyps again so another surgery coming up this month. Also, pulmonary dr. Says my asthma is not controlled although I take everything they prescribe me, wants to start me on a new drug Nucala. So I don't have to constantly take steroids which is basically fking my bones and ligaments up bc I'm on prednisone every other week.
I know long story etc. Just looking to see if anyone on the great OT had any answers or suggestions. I know besides kill myself etc I'm finished. Still very active workout 4 times a week, still play raquetball, softball basketball etc. When I can breathe.
Even had my nervous system cked out through acupuncture therapy everything cked out fine.

I do have a script for Breo....they diagnosed me with Eosinophilic asthma.

My asthma is allergy induced usually, Ive always had sinus problems too but I've never found it to directly affect my asthma

Totally thought this was going to be about the dead person having Asthma and now you do too creepy type shite
As for your sinuses...I assume you have tried flonase...Works great for me when I have issues twice a day.

Lol no man apparently a previous poster said the ligament had the AIDS and now I have it as well.
I have tried Flonase but it doesn't work in the sense that I keeps the mucus build up from happening or the polyps from returning

One Dr. did say that sense these problems started after that acl surgery that the new ligament introduced into my body could have changed something in my system, if you belive that

Chronic sinusitis is a bitch to treat unfortunately. I don't know how old you are but making sure your immune system is functioning properly would be another avenue to take (i.e. blood work). There's a relatively new sinus procedure out there called balloon sinuplasty that is promising. It helps a lot of people, but you've gotta be careful. Reimbursement for that procedure is ridiculous, or at least it was. I'd get a second opinion before I dropped that pretty penny.
Sinus rinses, steroid sprays, decongestants, and allergy medications are pretty much the standard therapy for chronic nose issues.

Found this thread very interesting. I've been to an allergist for 4 years and still no luck. I get a cough that basically feels like a tickle in my chest and some tightness every October-November and the cough literally last until about March-April. I've had x-rays, robutussin $40 cough medicines, flonase, steriods, breathing treatments, and so much more. Nothing has stopped this from reoccuring every freaking year.
Going to check out this breo ellipta and I plan to make an appt with a pulmonary dr. Any suggestions and I'm all ears...or eyes.

I've had one sinus infection in my life, and it lasted about a month. I started doing the Neti pot thing (NeilMed rinse, actually) the last week of it, and I believe that's what cured it. The other things you mentioned were of minimal help. Never saw a doctor.

the Neil Med sinus rinse (over the counter) works wonders with congestion. It's hard to do it every day when you good, but it stops the congestions.

Odd that everything started up after your surgery. No other changes in your environment? New house, pets, moved cities,etc.
Allergy testing can be tricky. The skin testing can be more specific than the blood test. The blood test levels after treatment with immunotherapy can "normalize" so it's not necessarily that they weren't treating you appropriately with the shots you were getting.
Chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps can certainly be tricky to treat. They shouldn't be coming back as often as they seem to be with you. However an optimal nasal regimen(regardless of whether or not you feel like it's makes a ton of difference) is usually recommended. Usually consists of daily to twice daily saline rinses along with. Flonase, naso.cort or similar. Will sometimes place pts on budesonide rinses.
Sometimes too open of a nasal airways can lead to "empty nose syndrome" which in itself can lead to nasal congestion and mucus production.
But yeah, good luck.

Different things work for different people because different entities cause similar symptoms.

I wasn't criticizing their use. I agree with using all of them, but if you're producing copious amounts of thick, green/yellow mucus, I'd recommend sinus rinse sooner rather than later. I know I won't wait several weeks ever again.

I'm 35 and my immune system checked out great thank God. I was put on rinses with bethametasone which were expensive but seems to be doing some good.
I guess that I'm not exactly sure what the exact problem is. I know i have sinus issues, but this whole not being able to breathe thing is really screwing up my quality of life.
I do take albuterol twice a day when these flare ups happen but they normal don't do too much. And I hate taking the prednisone bc i know the side effects
I'm not a candidate for the balloon synoplast surgery. I wish I was it seems to be beneficial.

I do use a nasal rinse and a steroid rinse twice a day.
I have done 2 skin test one showed I was allergic to 90% of the stuff they tested for. Then when I went to an allergist/immunologist she said I was allergic to cats, horses and dogs. I had the same dog for over 8 yrs.
So she told me to stop taking the allergy shots which I was taking for a yr, but the symptoms still persisted after I was on the shots as well

I went through all that you have but all the sinus surgeries. They ran all the tests -a nasal endoscopy- which my ENT scared the crap out of me wanting to do one on the spot. Some other scan after I had a allergy induced migraine. I about give up combating my allergies. I get an ear ache and sinusitus and Omnicef is the only antibiotic that works. 24 hour Allegra and Bennie at night and that new sinus rinse.
If I can get better long enough I will start allergy shots again. I think there is something in the air or I need to move from the State I am in which has cedar pine--- because I used to only have these problems in Sept. only.

Been there, done that. Had extra "windows" done in sinuses when I was younger. No help. Didn't get relief until a doc diagnosed deviated septum with nasal polyps. He was aggressive, steroid injections directly into polyps each time they came back. Cleaned everything out while fixing septum. That was 15 years ago, not really any issues since.
