Hell of band, I'm so jealous of the music my parents had. The 70-80's are literally timeless, my kids will still be listening to my parents music. I love it, I need a joint

Think of the songs these guys would have put out in the last 30 years if not for that crash. The music world was robbed that night. Just think they were headed to Baton Rouge to play at LSU when they crashed.

Lester, I was also at that Day on the Green (I went to most of them). It was Skynyrd, Frampton, Santana......Crap, I can't remember who the last group was.

I was in high school when they crashed, we had tickets for the show. Sad day. My 21 year old son loves Skynyrd.

The day before the show in Baton Rouge, me and a buddy ran ran into the Band "Pointe Blank" at the Oak Manor Motel, They were there to play warm up for the Skynard show the next day. They gave us a pair of free tickets to the show. Half an hour later the report on the radio that the plane had crashed.

My brother and buddies friends had tickets to the concert in Baton Rouge the day after the crash. They kept the tickets and when the band was re-formed and came to BR, they made the front page of the Advocate. They all got free back stage passes to meet the band.

My dad worked with the guy that owned the adjacent property to where it crashed. I remember going there as a kid a day or two after it crashed. There were still items all over the place from the band. I can remember seeing things like sunglasses and playing cards and other little stuff. I never thought to pick any of it up. It was rock and roll history.

If my recollection serves me right, they buried the wreck in place with a bulldozer to keep people from coming on to the property as it would be a nuisance.

There are only a few simple joys in life better than screaming down the highway on a cool sunny day, with your windows down and "Call Me the Breeze" turned all the way up.
