Russian subs in the Gulf making sharks get wild.

boy from Mississippi got attacked back in the early 2000's in Pensacola. My buddy was the park ranger that killed the shark and retrieved the boys arm from it's mouth.
If this is the same story I'm remembering, the kid was about 10 and was attacked by a bull shark in very shallow water. The kid's uncle, who was a young and fit guy, grabbed the shark by the tail and hauled it onto the sand.
The shark bit the kid's arm of between the elbow and shoulder. The uncle dragged the shark hoping the could recover the arm.
I remember thinking that I wouldn't want to frick with Uncle Jessie (or Jacob, i think)
He is truly a bad muthafricka.

Sharks are protected now so there are more of them and bigger too.
Beaches need drones patrolling and some method of scaring them off.
Maybe drones could drop firecrackers in the area once the right size and weight charge was tested and determined.
Maybe a taser line could be dipped into the water.
Maybe remote underwater cameras would help also.

It happened on Gulf Islands National Seashore at Langdon Beach opposite Langdon Battery about five miles west of Pensacola Beach and a mile east of Ft. Pickens. I think the boy lost so much blood he suffered from lack of oxygen to the brain as well as traumatic amputation.

I just Googled it. Jesse Arbogast is the boy's name. He was 8 at the time of the attack. His Uncle says he lost 30 units of blood, which seems about like all off it. He stopped breathing after a couple of minutes on the beach. His aunt did CPR until the EMTs arrived about 10 minutes later.
He's got challenges, but is alive and living in Ocean Springs.

They better not call it "shark infested waters". Just call it the water. That's where we keep the sharks, almost exclusively.

The ocean is right up there with space for being an unfit place for humans.

Officials on the lookout for bull shark
Police have asked the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to lookout for a bull shark
What charges will he face? How many years does a shark usually get for something like this?

You just have to understand your place. You are at a distinct disadvantage the second you enter the water. There are no trees to climb and no quick escapes. You aren't at the top of the food chain and you are different to the things that live there.
That's where we keep the sharks. Any decision to enter the ocean recreationally has to account for the possibility that sharks will do shark things, just like every other creature in the ocean will do their thing.

Stay out of the sharks way and you will be fine. Their water, their rules

Yep, bycatch is doing a number on shark populations around the globe, or across the disc......I should say.
