East over is getting ran down. I had a thread a few years back about it.
Though security is the tightest of any gated neighborhood in the region.

It would have been if greedy politicians didn't mess it up. They were set up to be a maritime production mecca and instead never landed any huge non government companies. If you think of all the water frontage and road access it's really a damn shame.

If NASA ramps up again, Michoud might pick up some slack. It won't bring residents back to the East tho. Workers will commute from the city proper or Jefferson/St Bernard parishes.
You know the city government will do nothing competent or responsible to address the issues out there. That's 100%

The 16-year-old (Target?) was shot in the leg, according to NOPD. The 2-year-old had graze wounds to the shoulder and sternum. The third victim was a 22-year-old man (OR was he the Target?) who was shot in the leg and forearm.

Look here are two of the NOPD Celebrity Lip Sync Video ladies!

The one question I have here is what Brake Inspection Station gave this car an inspection sticker? The tinted windows clearly are out of code!!!!

Living in Lakeview post Katrina January 06-June 07 felt like an island. You're right the East was crazy. It did seem to get way worse after Katrina. It was hood before but Katrina seemed to be the real death of it.

I seem to remember public housing reopened in May or June 06'? That really seemed to be the end of post Katrina calm(in much of city).

I worked at Jazzland in high school in the early 2000's. A coworker asked if I could give him a ride home one night. He lived somewhere in the east. I was scared shitless leaving his neighborhood.

This is why I asked. The infrastructure is there for it to be the most developed and industrious part of the city on one side, on the other upscale residential with lake access away from the density of the CBD. On paper, real estate there should be exploding, yet you drive through and it looks like a third world country.
