I’m sure the leftist DA Garza will try to blame and charge the cops

West 6th is far from very ghetto.

West 6th used to be the young professionals hangout (30s-40s). Of course I haven’t been down there in 15 years so not sure. Stopped going downtown when they decided homeless people can do whatever they want and became extremely aggressive and violent.

Mostly between red river and congress, know as “dirty 6th”. This shooting was in a different area.

Still is.

A lot of older college students, as well.

Completely different demographic between East and West 6th.

We were planning on a trip to go there. So you’re saying that’s not a generally safe area? We are in our late 40’s so we probably wouldn’t be out early in the morning

E 6th is fine before midnight.

If you want to see a free fight after the show, stick around.

That’s when E 6th really gets ghetto.

That and Texas Relays weekend.

There’s a fun video of Louis J Gomez and some other guy about to go at it outside of Creek and the Cave, which has had issues with the area.

Mothership is in a kind of shite area. I would have preferred to see it gone out by Bee Cave, but I’m an old YT.

I thought Buford’s was a gay bar last time I drove through that area. I had almost stayed at Canopy last SXSW and then figured the area would be too lively for someone who goes to bed by 11.

Why are these people just sitting on the floor in that video, toward the second half of it. I don’t get it? Wouldn’t you want to be alert and ready to run away, get cover, protect yourself? Just very odd behavior.

Nah it’s a huge 2-story bar that’s always packed.

There’s a patio on the side of the street, wondering if that’s where the shooter got in because that’s right where the shooting happened on the 1st floor.

Dirty 6th is complete trash and dangerous any time of the day. I’d stay away. Honestly, I’d stay away from downtown completely.

Somebody can tell me if I’m just hearing things, but is that officer asking him what his pronouns are while they’re sanding next to a dead mass shooter suspect?

You are hearing things. He said “what’s your _____ Address?” Maybe “home”? You can here the guy respond with what sounds like a street address.

It’s safer than the French quarter. As others have said, stay away if it is past midnight or so. That’s when all the trash comes out.

Seems like the main choices

Typically learn about white people mass shootings during the day, and hood stuff mass shootings when you wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning. So I'd go with hood stuff.
