I did a 156 hr fast during lent. The noticeable effects were huge. I lost 13 lbs during that time and mental clarity increased after day 3.

No weight came off on 1st or 2nd day, I weighed myself on a third day and lost a pound. But after I quit the fast I noticed I couldn't eat as much as before so had a relatively light dinner. Woke up next day and I was down about 4lbs from when I started. Now today I'm up maybe 1lb, so all and all it's about 3lbs lost or 1lb fat loss/day. I believe it was fat loss because there's less around midsection and my arms got more defined.

I didn't feel I slept better as it was advertised by many, I didn't feel great improvement from my usual intermittent fasting. And on a 3rd day I had very little energy to get anything done and was becoming a bit less attentive.

In my opinion, 1 day out of the week fast is good, or if you're already on intermittent 24 hour fast/single big meal then you can go 48 hours by skipping that one big meal.

WTF??!!!!

so you did 3 day fast and didnt lose any weight? I call bullshite. I have done them plenty in the past and there is no way.

Unless you burned in excess of 3,500 calories per day, it was NOT fat loss.

My guess is water weight. Anytime you cut carbs you lose water weight immediately.

Then why do body builders carb load right before a competition? One guy told me the hardest part of his diet was eating a whole box of pop tarts an hour before his competition without drinking anything

By not eating, he was basically burning 2000 calories a day (without exercise). BMR was doing that. He lost a pound or 2 of fat.

I have seen it proven on body scans after 2 day fasts.

Yes the rest is water

I have been on a 8/16 fast for about 2 years and it has improved my sleep and mental sharpness immensely....I have, most of my life, hit a wall around 3 oclock in the afternoon....That stopped within a week of starting the 8/16 fast and has not returned. I have lost 70 pounds in the process too....it is actually pretty liberating to not be talking about dinner every evening...my family knows I do not eat past 2 PM on weekends and past noon on weekdays. I am not religious about it but I do it probably 95% of the time....

You aren’t losing fat after 3 days chief. It’s just water weight.

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure why so many people have to act like a jerk. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves.

What you lost wasn't fat.

Why do you say that? His body had to get energy from somewhere; do you think it was all from muscle or organ tissue?

I like the concept of fasting. I just have no faith in myself that I could go 3 days or even 1 day.
I would get a massive headache

If you don’t eat for 3 days, you are losing more than a pound just by being alive
