Local Chevy dealer has a new 2020 Silverado 2500 gasser for $45000. It is crew cab and 4x4. It has everything I need, but think the bench seat and tiny infotainment screen would get old. Anyone regret getting cheap interior

I regretted it when my dad got the 1980 three on the tree, vinyl seats, no A/C base model Ford in 1980. Hot as hell in south LA.

Base models now still have amazing technology/features, although lacking some luxury.

It doesn’t matter what the inside looks like. All that matters is what people next to you at a red light think.

At least get a diesel if you have to have a 3/4. Gas will go up again and you’ll pay for it either way. If you don’t need a 3/4 don’t buy one they are a money pit. Plus a diesel will last 12-15 years.

That's cheap enough, but dang 3/4 ton gassers get old in a hurry.

Chevy's the one to get, though, in that config. Pretty much bulletproof and if you're gonna own it a long time, I'd spring for some creature comforts.

Fakkkk that. Theres way better deals than that to be had on base model trucks. My single cab 4x4 was 31k in 2018.

I bought one back in July when they first came out.
2020 2500hd Custom (which is one step above WT)
New 6.6 gas.
No problems so far. 9000 miles
Avg 14 mpg mixed city/hwy according to computer.

Love the truck and how it looks.
But interior not that nice.
Literally only has 2 cup holders in the entire truck (none in backseat).
And center folding console doesn’t open (no console storage).

Next model up (LT) has better interior I guess

Everett GMC and Laura GMC have base model 2500 gasser crew cabs for around 40k. Laura has a double cab for 38,600.

For comparisons sake, I bought my 2016 GMC 2500 gasser SLT new from Everett in Dec of ‘16 for 44k. The diesels were 9k more. I can buy a lot of gas for 9k. It also doesn’t look like they are stocking many gassers in the higher trim levels anymore.

Edit: Looks like Laura has a few base 3500 gassers for a little over 42k and an SLE for 46.

This. Its Denali/platinum or nothing at all. Usually a two year old vehicle to make the price reasonable.

I think you can survive with a base model. I had a 1999 F150 XL. It was fine, albeit miserably slow with a V6. Just add an aftermarket stereo.

$45k does not seem like a great deal though.

take a look at Ram. I bought a Cummins Limited 2500 and it’s better than the Lexus Mercedes and Audi I’ve owned in the past.

I’m not saying get a Limited but the Laramie is an excellent value for what you get and its a well made truck without sacrificing a nice interior.

Its not your paw paw’s dodge anymore.

Eta: Thats not a good deal and those new Chevys are really ugly. I hate what they did to that truck

To be fair, you really shouldn’t be paying attention to that while barreling down the road.
