A Ford F-150 driveshaft recall includes more than 5,800 trucks equipped with two-piece driveshafts that could disconnect and cause a sudden loss of drive power.

The 2021 F-150 trucks could also roll away when parked without the parking brakes engaged.

Ford says the supplier may have improperly secured the c-clip connection between the two driveshaft halves.

Warranty claims were arriving regarding the two-piece driveshafts where the c-clips had not been properly installed. Ford learned the driveshaft supplier allowed certain driveshaft assemblies to bypass automated verification.

Not quite as dangerous as the Honda Accord recall around the steering issue, but it's pretty bad for an OT favorite pickup truck that's already seen issues around electronics, battery drain, and premature rust.

It's Ford. Not like they have a lot of power to lose.

I didn't think they had built any that actually run yet this year.

All of the carmakers have had supply issues with their microchips. My local Toyota dealer usually has 150+ new cars in inventory. They have about 20 now, and most of them are used.

That's even less than they usually last.

That's concerning if the front disconnects you can do what is called the 1/4 mile pole vault though a 2 piece prevents it from being so dramatic.

YouTube vid of a pole vault

You need one of these to prevent it.

They are going to end up moving Explorer and F-150 production to Mexico. Biden won't even tweet about it.

I had the same issue on my 2013 Platinum.
I brought it in telling them it was a driveshaft sound.
A entire new rear end later, they replaced the driveshaft. Problem solved idiots.
Anyway, it was a known issue then as well.

That's as much your dealer's fault for misdiagnosing it as Ford for not building it properly.

The big 3's second biggest problem after the UAW is their dealer network. Most of them are terrible.

The OT's recommended car list, for those of you that have to drive:

1. Land Cruiser
2. Used Land Cruiser
3. 4Runner
4. Tundra
5. Tacoma

Very few people know what a drive shaft loop is, unless they have run fast enough at the track. They actually work very well. Don’t ask me how I know this..
