Retired from the Navy Reserve March 1, 2020, and my last day at my primary job is December 17, 2020 (I don't officially retire until January 2021, but my terminal leave is just in time for some duck hunting and fishing trips.).

Any tips? Not too prideful to admit I lack there
I love that you asked. I started reading parts of encouraging and positive Christian books like “Never Give Up” by Joyce Meyer, watching 15 minute videos about God’s love and the importance of positive thinking by different priests and Joyce Meyer. Reading small parts of Scripture 15-20 minutes at a time throughout my day. Taking a few minutes to thank God for various blessings in my life.

It’s very easy to let negativity and miserable people of the world invade all of our thoughts and lives. That’s not God’s view of the world.

-We’ve had 3 vacations
-We’ve been in Salt Lake City instead of Houston (where COVID was much worse)
-after Having the whole summer off I’m still on pace for my normal annual salary
-I’m buying a new house because
-we’re having a baby boy in a few weeks

2020 has been phenomenal for me.

Got another grandchild. Healthy & perfect!

I’ve run at least a 5k every day of 2020 so far.

Went to the Natty Championship Game, that was fantastical.

Owlie didn’t die.

Finally got a new job in my field of expertise after being let go last year. I’d been working the night shift at Walmart as a grocery stocker to make ends meet. Plus the new job is back home in Louisiana so I’m getting to move home after being gone 20 years. Also, my beautiful daughter is getting married next month. No pics you filthy animals!

I have been persistent in trying to apply to medical school. For years I did not make the cut because I was told my mcat entrance exam was too low. During the shutdown, I studied harder than ever for months and got a score that was in the 77 percentile rank, or upper 3/4. I have not been accepted yet, but That score gives me hope, and I did my due diligence when there was nothing else going on really.
Maybe 3rd time will be the charm? We shall see
