I'd most likely go bury 1 on the beach nearby next to a land mark so I can find it in a few days. Then call the cops about the rest.
If anything, take the kilo and don't say shite. Calling the cops and reporting a package with one kilo conveniently missing puts you on their radar.

I would be smart about it. I'm not tearing something open, but if there's an easily removed separate package, that would be too enticing

meh, I'd rip one out if I could quickly and without using fingerprints and be gone.

The idea of taking some and calling the cops is blowing my mind. Talking to the cops in general seems like a bad idea to me. Talking to them about drugs is worse. Talking to them when you stole some of those drugs is fricking INSANE.
If one is taking a brick or two, which I think is a pretty solid idea(possibly), DON'T TALK TO POLICE.
