I got pulled over for seat belt years ago. The trooper made me get out of the car told me why he pulled me over and I acknowledged my guilt. Took my ticket and paid the $25 and haven't made that mistake since. Imagine causing that ruckus because of a seat belt ticket lol

Its like people don't understand that police are government.

Police aren't government. Police are people trying to do their job and make a paycheck just like the rest of us. Only their job puts their life on the line unlike most of ours.

There are bad apples, of course, and the government will use the police to enforce their will, but it's still people trying to make it through their day.

People make mistakes, even when they are trained not to.

Having held a State Police Department issued handgun and taser, they feel very different. Particularly in weight and feel of the grip.

I genuinely don’t know how you get them confused if you’re regularly handling them

In high stress situations, you don't feel the weight or the grip.

Safe to say you don't notice the color either. Your attention is on the situation and your eyes are on the threat.

Police use to carry them with a support side draw but they switched to the cross draw. IMO the support side draw would correct alot of this.

I've never had anyone explain why they they prefer the cross draw with the strong hand. Maybe accuracy???

Maybe like a stun gun?
The problem with a stun gun is that you have to be within arm's reach for it to work. That opens the possibility of getting into a physical scuffle and suspect possibly being able to get ahold of the officer's service weapon.

Pistol style taser has a 15' or so range. Less chance of a scuffle ensuing and ability to take down a suspect that's running away.

If I say " I get it, no one likes being pulled over, for any reason... ", I get mocked, and told I just can't relate.

Or as Joe Xiden would say... " You ain't black! "

Which is also true. Still, no one LIKES getting pulled over. Regardless of color.

But I believe it's worse having an arrest warrant for a violent crime. Which is why I don't commit violent crimes. Especially with a gun.

So, what is there to really GET ?

If I were a member of a group believed to be targeted by the cops, why continue to engage in sketchy or criminal behavior?

That's like saying to the cops " I double dog dare you to come after me ", and when they do, you cry ' RACISM!! " .

Sorry, I can't relate. And never will.

So stop asking me to " understand ".

Where am I making excuses? She clearly screwed up.

Saying all that, this guy deserved to be shot.
