Cpt, it seems to me that segments of the populace have become more defiant and disrespectful of cops...disobeying direct orders, resisting arrest, generally asking for a fight.

This comes from the militarization, lack of respect for the rights of the citizens, and their own protection of criminal actions by fellow officers. I'll point you to the Nypd chip whose own department head him committed to an asylum when he tried to be a whistle blower.

The facts are that the police is increasingly more hostile to the citizenry. The lack of respect they see is a direct result of their own actions....and media play on those actions.

Not really. The easiest solution is changing the way cups operate. They are a much smaller group than the whole populace.

Every cop wears a camera at all times. Very quickly things will get better.

Cop is right, he has evidence. Cup is wrong, he gets prosecuted. Easy.

I'd love to take a nationwide poll (that actually represents the population accurately) to see what Americans think is the bigger problem:
1: Bad cops
2: Lack of respect for anything by the lower dredges of the black community

220 yds... 660 ft... about 1/10th of mile

You don't need to be a sniper to make that shot.

So you think that if "cups" change that the folks committing crimes will stop committing crimes?

220 yards isn't a far shot man, any deer hunter can make that shot. A legit sniper wouldn't have missed

If you stand still at 220 yards, I could put a shot through your eye with little difficulty.

One of the biggest problems IMO... they rarely ever get prosecuted even if it's proven that they were wrong.

Cops really have no fear of legal consequences b/c they know that 9 times out of 10 they'll get away with a slap on the wrist... maybe some paid time off but that's about it.

What? The problem is we're combining issues that need not be combined.

Police are overreaching. That's the product of a lot of things, and a lot, if not most, have nothing to do with violence in the black community.

Violence in the black community is another separate and independent problem which deserves equal attention. Conflating the two is what people on the extremes want.

Disagree with you on all your points and I suspect most people will. This thread is about Feguson. Michael Brown is dead because he tried to beat up a cop after robbing a convenience store.

Militarization of police and lack of respect for citizen's rights has nothing to do with his death.

You know this but you ignore it because it doesn't fit your narrative.

I feel it is inevitable for this country not to experience a huge race war eventually. The one sided white bashing and continuous apologizing by whites as racists forced down the throats of the U.S. citizens/world is going to blow up.. I really don't see it getting better until something drastic happens.. Not hoping, just a feeling.
