Little different story if he was actually the first car through
It's a lot different. I still don't understand how so many stories like this end up with bad information being shared for days on end. People posted over and over that he was way behind the chase and just decided to be a lone ranger and haul arse after the chase was past his area.

I have no idea what you think you know from looking at a video. I’m basing my statements off what McNeely, BRPD spokesman, said the night of the accident. I’ve posted two separate accounts confirming my statement. I don’t even see how you can claim BRPD had jurisdiction when it wasn’t even in EBR parish. But continue on.
Again, it’s all moot in regards to an alleged off duty Addis cop wrecking into the kids.

at’s not a quote from a BRPD spokesman. It’s a quote from WAFB. Is there a quote from BRPD saying they terminated the pursuit? Clearly somebody had their facts wrong

According to a spokesperson with BRPD, their officers called off the pursuit when the suspect got off the Mississippi River bridge and entered into WBR Parish, as they do not have jurisdiction to go into other areas.

What I know is that somebody got their facts wrong because BRPD is on camera pursuing after the wreck.
Feel free to look for yourself.
WBRZ Video
As I said, clearly someone had the facts wrong.

And if the suspects vehicle hadn’t stalled out on I10 when he crossed back over into EBR, BRPD would likely never have stopped him. Anyone thinking BRPD had the situation in hand is delusional.

BR did not call off the chase.. there are recordings. They said they would "backup" and "assist," WBR once they crossed the Bridge

I know I read that BRPD said they ended the pursuit at the parish line.
From that light to the "Welcome to Addis" sign is what? About 3 quarters of a mile?
Either way, I want to know what's on the Addis cop's camera because the way Tony Clayton put it, when a grand jury hears it, it will not be good for the cop.

The Dec. 31 crash kicked off when Tyquel Zanders, 24, entered a home in the 3200 block of Blackwell Drive belonging to people in his family, pushed his father down, took the keys to a car and stole it, McKneely said. Baton Rouge officers caught up to the vehicle and launched a pursuit. Zanders fled across the Mississippi River Bridge into West Baton Rouge Parish, and BRPD officers stopped chasing him at the parish line, McKneely said.
Well the spokesman for BRPD said they stoped chasing him. Feel free to post the recordings you know about. you and LostinBR can go ask the Sgt why he’s got his facts wrong. Sounds like BRPD doesn’t know who was doing what where or when.
Or maybe they’re running for cover in fear of being sued.

When does an Addis cops jurisdiction end? He wrecked in Brusly well beyond the city limits.
Posted on 1/8/23 at 9:13 pm to OweO
Was the cop in question even on duty? It was reported earlier that he wasn’t on duty which makes me wonder if he was even supposed to be there or just heard about the pursuit on his radio and joined in.

Fact. BR did not terminate. We're told to asist. Yes, they fear of being sued
Posted on 1/8/23 at 9:21 pm to geauxkw
Well that makes sense. Officially terminated. Unofficially not. Sounds like BRPD could be named in the inevitable lawsuits as well.

Zanders is from White Castle. His family moved to BR when he was still in grade school, but I know someone who taught him in 5th grade and they said his mother was the type of parent who thought her son did no wrong. He had an uncle who worked at the school and he used to tell the other teachers something like "his momma is creating a monster with that boy".
His daddy probably told him he couldn't use the car and was trying to stop him from getting the keys and not ever hearing no, he was going to get his way.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting stories about the whole situation, but from what I understand he was not on duty. He was doing detail work or something. That's going to be another strike against him.
He hasn't bailed out of jail yet. His girlfriend tried calling a bail bondsman (I hate to keep saying "someone I know", but one bail bondsman she called, they pretty pretty much told her "you don't have enough to get him out.. bye" and hung up on her.. His bond is 100K so if he can't bond out of that, he is pretty much fricked because he will not be able to afford his own lawyer).

Yeah. Not sure how they came up with the minimum amount. What’s it 12%?
Posted on 1/8/23 at 10:01 pm to phil good
I thought it was 10%, but I am not 100% sure. Either way, $10k - $12k and it took a week.
I wonder if he plans on pleading guilty? That might be his best option.
