2 car garage with one garage door

Couldn't they make the standard door a foot wider, or even the garage a little wider? Most houses with an attached 2 car garage have to pull in at an angle, and back out hoping their mirror won't hit. Its even hard to open the doors all the way- on every side. Vehicles aren't getting any smaller.

That's why I let my husband park his jeep in the garage and I just park in the driveway.
Also frees up space for him in the garage to store his hardtop, etc. I took over the closet in our bedroom, he can have the garage. Compromise.
