What's the solution, genius??? Since all we have to do is "address" it.

Odd. I don't know anybody who has gotten shot here.

Give it time and hope it's not you.

Also, lock your doors.

Otherwise enjoy life in that shithole.

It's already happening. The demographics of the city are changing quick. Sure some areas will be bad for many years still but as a whole the city is changing.

Don't tell that to people who are eager to pat themselves on the back for moving away.

Only time will tell. I will say its feels weird meeting people who live here who are not Saints fans.

They feel they need to justify their move and convince themselves they don't miss living here. I went through the same process.

And all occurred in areas that people are well-informed not to visit.

Hell. One year I didn't lock my apartment doors for a whole year. Didn't get raped, murdered, or robbed

I worked in drug addiction recovery in N.O. Worked in the ghettos and routinely spent my day among addicts, hundreds.

If you don't have the moxy to know where not to go and how not to stay safe, stay out of N.O. or any big city for that matter.

It all starts in the home. Fathers need to take care of their kids and not put their dick into anything that stays still long enough for a nut. Mothers also need to be held accountable for not raising their kids.

Another way to address it is for leaders of the black community to call out their people to rise up above the current stigma that keeps them down.

I don't have all of the answers, but continuing to ignore the issue damn sure isn't helping matters one bit.

How do we specifically do that through legislation and public policy?

Maybe you should bring it up at their next monthly meeting.

The last thing we need is more legislation in any capacity. This is specific to the people being held accountable for their own actions. It is not my problem that some people refuse to take care of their own. The mentality that a select few can take care of everyone is why we are where we are as a society today.
