Netflix will make a movie about this and make all the Italians gay blacks.

What constitutes a lynching? In 1887 you had the thibodaux massacre. Something like 60 blacks were killed and hundreds more injured. At least that’s what I read.

Sicilian Americans in NOLA were considered to be non-White people until after WW2. Things changed during WW2, probably because that's when all Americans pulled together to beat the Axis enemies.

I'll bet TulaneLSUs family lore about this is fascinating.

there is a podcast on Spotify called Infamous America. There were some episodes (one, maybe two) about this.
They actually had a series about events in New Orleans. It was pretty good.

If they were all Sicilians can they be considered as black? There might be a loophole here.

read about it in a Carlos Marcello book.
Not saying lynching is ok but when the mafia murders a police chief, I don't really blame the common folk for reacting.
It is not like some Italians were lynched for using the wrong bathroom

Pretty interesting history actually. The mention of a wax museum display on pg 1 of thread as well.

Uh oh.
The OT Centrists won't like this.
More history we need to erase to fit the new narrative. This can't be. This was all likely made up by Donald Trump himself.

That's where I was confused. There's a grey area between a lynching and a massacre

more quelling a labor uprising than a lynching, in technical terms. You aren't a commie, are you?

Not just NOLA. My great-grandfather was straight-off-the-boat Sicilian. When he married my great-grandmother, her mother committed herself to breaking them up (this was all in Iberville parish). Divorce in South La was a biiiiiiiiig taboo at the turn of the 20th century, but she was hell-bent on making it happen and succeeded. She would rather her daughter carry the scorn (at the time) of being divorced and her grandchildren grow up without a father than have a Sicilian/Italian in her family.
