BREAKING: On the way to LaPlace where a 17 year old male was hit by a train. Happened near Milton St and Cardinal.

quote:

LAPLACE – A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a train on Monday night in LaPlace, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff.

The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. at the intersection of Cardinal Street and Milton Street in LaPlace.

According to Sheriff Mike Tregre, the teen was trying to cross the railroad tracks before the train and did not make it. The sheriff says it is not known at this time if the teen was by himself when the incident occurred.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

I wonder if the engineer even feels it when it happens. Hopefully he didn’t see it, but I’m curious to whether the body even barely jolts the train.

It’s just an unnecessary comment to make. Just don’t say anything at all next time.

my friends dad was an engineer for BNSF and he ended up hitting a guy while he was on the tracks. Turns out the guy was a pedophile so in the end I dont think he felt so bad

Did he say he felt it when it happened? I guess it would depend on the speed of the train, but I’d think the physics would point to not feeling it at all if you’re on the train.

I’ve seen better looking trains crossing the quad on any given Monday night.

It's sad and all, but how the frick do you misjudge a train?

I grew up in LaPlace and know that area. It's not like you can't tell if a train is coming.

Sad for the family, but I just don't understand why people do dumb shite like this.

I seriously doubt you would feel anything. Train mass versus human mass and all.

Maybe he knew he could make it and tripped on the rail.

That would make sense.

I'd be curious to know his story.

If you don't have time to get up from tripping on a rail, then you didn't have enough time to beat the train to begin with.
