Has anyone run into the P0711 and P0700 code issue? Apparently it’s a transmission temp sensor issue. Royal GMC off Airline said we had a busted torque converter and had metal all in the pan. However, they never drained or flushed our transmission fluid so I’m super skeptical any of that is the issue other than the sensor. They also said we had four seized shocks but the vehicle rides normal.

Bingo.

That thing shifted like **** from the moment I drove it off the lot.

They rushed it into production to hit CAFE standards and as per usual it blew up in their face.

Yep. Apparently the fluid was an issue so we had the new fluid put in about 6 months ago for the harsh shifts and it drove great. Maybe I panicked when I saw it was a persistent code for transmission so I sent it to nearest GMC dealer. I don’t think they are being honest.

Looked up online and I see that code combo being fixed with a sensor swap

Just FYI there are hundreds of good repair forums that you can find by googling the problem. This place is good for a lot of stuff, but you can find dozens of threads on this exact issue elsewhere.

Transmission temp sensor is easily changed, but you have to pull the transmission pan off to do it.

I would take it to a transmission shop (or general shop) that will do that and you can see if anything is in the fluid while you are at it. Shouldn’t take more than an hour, so wait while they do it and tell them you want to see the fluid in the pan when they drop it.

Just went through this on my Yukon last week. The dealership just told me “you need a new transmission” with no other option. If you have the 8 speed, you’re screwed because it’s on backorder. I brought it to L&S off of Jefferson and they flushed and refilled my transmission with new fluid. Running like a champ

Btw, join the class action lawsuit against GMC for the transmission. Google it and it will take you to the lawyers website.

All I can really determine from this is you have too much money and Royal GMC wants to bleed some of that off and see if it helps.

I have the 8 speed transmission and at 100,000 miles, the transmission started acting wonky. The transmission place replaced the fluid and filter and now acts like a new truck.

Tranny dude said to come back in 60,000 miles.

What’s the deal with the class action? I’m assuming you have to have made repairs already? I have an 18 sierra with 90k miles on it and it jumps forward in low gears after it sits over night. Haven’t made any repairs yet, but waiting for the transmission to shite the bed isn’t the best feeling in the world.

Don't take anything to the dealer when it's out of warranty.

Get some recs or research local shops and you will save thousands.
