The sniping attacks lasted until October 24. What a crazy three weeks.

quote:

During the weeks when the attacks occurred, fear of the apparently random shootings generated a great deal of public apprehension, especially at service stations and the parking lots of large stores. People pumping gasoline at gas stations would walk around their cars quickly, hoping that they would be a harder target to hit. Some stations put up tarps around the awnings over the fuel pumps so people would feel safer. Also, many people would attempt to fuel their vehicles at the naval base of the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, as they felt it was safer inside the guarded fence. Various government buildings such as the White House, U.S. Capitol, and the Supreme Court building, and memorial tourist attractions at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. also received heightened security. For the duration of the attacks, United States Senate pages received a driven police escort to and from the United States Capitol every day and were not allowed to leave their residence hall for any reason except work. Drivers of white vans and box trucks were viewed with suspicion from other motorists as initial media reports indicated the suspect may be driving such a vehicle.

Some forget John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo's last murder before staying in DC happened in Baton Rouge.
quote:

On September 23, 2002, at 6:30 p.m., 45-year-old Hong Im Ballenger was shot in the head and killed with a Bushmaster rifle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

They also shot a man in Hammond in August who survived.

They shot people through a hole in the back on their car.

15 years later and we're still dealing with gun violence. Wonder if in another 15 years we'll have finally done something about it?

I remember news stations telling people things like walk in an s pattern as you walk into the store. It must have been nuts to live up there during that.

Hopefully in 15 years we will have banned whacko liberals from owning guns but I seriously doubt it.

You people are the worst you literally think people fall into two categories either conservative or liberal. Everyone who does anything despicable is automatically liberal. You sound ignorant as frick.

People also forget that the older frick face (I won't use his name) had a female relative who was a BRPD Officer and he was in contact with her while he was in town. I can't remember exact details but he asked her for bullets or something suspicious and she failed to report it for weeks. That never really got more than a mention in the reports. There was enough info reported that she should have known or suspected him prior to his capture.

Most opposing guns will admit there's hardly anyway to backtrack currently.

He was also from Baton Rouge.

And he was executed in 2009 which is swift for death penalty cases and many others should be that swift.

Is it bad that I wish people who act like this were one of the victims?

Oddly, a friend of mine in L.A. is opposed to handguns but not rifles or assault rifles.

The more I thought of it, the more he's right.

I was at a haunted hayride at the Ashland Berry Farm about a few miles away from the the shooting at the Ponderosa the night of. Was nuts getting out of there. So many roads blocked off, etc.
