Wow, so a former CEO that raked in millions of dollars and likely got a golden parachute when he left the company blames potential automation on the company potentially having to pay its front line workers more.

Never saw that coming.

Because you don't understand any of this.

CEO pay isn't being bled from workers.

Holy frick are you stupid.
If flipping burgers was a labor worth $15 / hour then companies would offer that wage regardless of government set minimum wages.

If you think "the market" dictates the price of anything in this country I don't know what to tell you.

It's like the simplistic reply of "it's just supply and demand"

Please tell me your experience in economics

Is there anything this group of people could do to satisfy you titans of capitalism so you don't have to pay $2 more for your Big Mac meal?

Besides taking personally accountability for the culture they create and live in? No, not really.

Stupid people will continue to make stupid decisions as long as they are subsidized. Crackhead with no job and 6 kids? No problem: the government will pay for number 7 as well. There is no external force to punish this behavior. This must be addressed.

Not directly, but you're good with CEO's giving themselves hundreds of percent raises and bonuses?

It's capitalism blah blah blah

Im not advocating the government regulating it, but I don't see how you could argue (well you could because I said it and you're a fricking moron) that the growing CEO and general wealth disparity is a good thing for society as a whole.

I have a skillset beyond flipping burgers and therefore I command a salary far above minimum wage and my employer is happy to compensate me.

You're overstating this by magnitudes.

So none, got it.

What minimum wage does to the demand curve of labor is 099 shite, but you don't understand it

Actually, the small government solution is just to simply not subsidize this behavior. "You're on your own."

I'd be cool with that if we also stopped subsidizing CEO behavior.

If flipping burgers is a skill worth more than minimum wage, why don't the companies pay more than minimum wage to burger flippers?
My skill pays more than minimum wage, regardless if the minimum wage is $7/hour or $15/hour.

This country and every first world country subsidizes all sorts of behavior. Grants, tax breaks, exemptions, etc, ect. He's not going to give back his child tax credit though

All costs should rise
Fixed that for you.

But you're probably the guy who'll say "sure, I'll gladly take an across-the-board increase in my costs because it helps the ~3% of American adults who make minimum wage."

To each according to their ability.

Only an emotion wreck would assume CEO's are randomly giving themselves raises.

The board decides CEO compensation.

fricking A, somehow it is our fault they are poor and have to work these jobs and we are "keeping them down".

They should have paid better attention in Algebra and all that.

Most do, first of all

What if raising minimum wage raised your wage and didn't have a material effect on 95% of the goods and services you bought?

They do already. The problem is our minimum wage hasn't increased since the 90's, and pay slightly above minimum has subsequently also stagnated while inflation has far outpaced it. I think $15 minimum wage is stupid for most parts of the country, but the minimum wage definitely needs to be higher than it is and should probably be indexed to COL for different areas.
