People being dicks here is much older than the upvote downvote feature.

Pretty rare for black people to commit suicide

Had a very close friend jump to his own death at 16. Never picked on, never made fun of, frick, he was possibly the coolest kid in our grade. Amazing athlete. Super smart.

Which leads me to... Mental illness and awareness. None of Ben's friends, his parents, ever would have known that he thought these things. And this isn't just now, social media world age, Ben jumped 20 years ago.

Mental illness and awareness deserves more attention, but identifying exact individuals is near impossible. Say prayers. Sadly, some stories are just that. My thoughts are sent to the OP and other stories shared.

Hope cops investigate whether this young person was molested, bullied or other reason.

I also would wish they would release the % of kids who commit suicide that are on antidepressants, I would guess the # would be well over 50%

It's sad that parenting has come to getting involved and monitoring social media. I worry about that with my children in the future.

As someone who has worked in a high school for 16 years I can say this.

God Bless.

When a student dies every one in the school acts af if they were the departed 's best friend.

Powerful draw.

I'm so sorry.

We need more mental health treatment in addition to MH Awareness.

Sad story. It happens more often than people would like to admit. Kids at that age are baskets and need guidance.

Seems like it would have been nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

I know now that I have borderline personality disorder but when I had my first real girlfriend and she got tad teamed at a party when I was waiting on her to take her out to dinner when I was 17 I was driving past the arkansas river crying and Damm near stopped the car and just jumped in.

This to me is the 800 pound gorilla in the room in the black community. 1. Mental illness is never ever talked about. Ever. Despite up and down grades having a seizure quitting basketball when I was starting in the middle of my junior year trying to fist fight my boss at McDonald's lol noh one ever though it would be a good idea I see a therapist. I did not see one until I was 26. At all. By then I had been self medicating with drugs for years

2. Black people on a bg are more religious then most others and are going to look to the bible for all their answers. The more stuff I did the more my mom had me read the bible the more I started to hate the bible because all it was doing is telling me I'm a frick up. There is nothing wrong with God but sometimes u need professional help

There are a lot of people needlessly sufferung
