They've been missing for a good 15 hours now. Doesn't look good

Mid-air collisions are every pilots nightmare. Hope they find them.

I can only imagine what their families are going through right now. Prayers for them all.

Sounds bad...
Mid-air collision and then, possibly, ditching into the ocean. In 30' to 40' waves. God help them.

Wasn't there a poster here who started a thread a month or 2 ago saying that's where he was headed to be stationed? Remember posting with Vette about the N Shore and it's beauty but trash.

Damn!

Prayers sent and I hope they find them alive. What is the water temp there this time of year?

Just got back a few days ago, water temps are probably in the low 70's, upper 60's. The northshore is super rough in the winter though.

With those waves, chances are slim.

The linked article has the most current news. It's not good. That's the first mention I've seen of a green laser targeting rescue aircraft.

Would really like to know who the dipshits are with the lasers.

Pointing a laser at an aircraft is a federal crime. Expect the FBI to become involved if they aren't so already.

Every week with Obama is a bad week for them.

prayers for the families..this is so very sad.

Do you think there's any chance that that the a-hole with the laser caused the accident in the first place? Blinding the pilots? Or were the helicopters too far off shore for that, and the search planes are hugging the coastline? (sorry if this is a dumb question--I don't know anything about the mission they were on or how far laser beams travel)

If one or both of the choppers were "painted" with the laser and the pilots were exposed to the beam it could certainly cause problems. Since North Shore residents heard explosions it doesn't sound like the choppers were that far off the coastline. Certainly more to follow.
