Those men had more balls than you'll ever have. STFU and give some respect to those who fought so you could have the right to make shitty posts one day.

While it’s true most black soldiers were relegated to segregated support units. These troops I beleive are from the 93rd Infantry Division which was made up of black troops and fought attached to he French Army due to the fact white American soldiers refused to serve along side them. This division never fought as a whole unit. Instead it’s regiments we’re spread out in different French divisions. One of the 93rd’s regiments is famiously known as the “Harlem Hellfighters”.

I actually knew that and figured they were in one of the groups assigned to the French due to their equipment.

But most of them had shite jobs... and I managed to rustle a jimmy.

Well they’re still wearing the standard British style helmet most American troops were issued so this picture had to be when they first arrived in France. Once the 93rd was divided up and put with the French, they were issued with Blue French helmets, which is where the 93rd got its nickname of the “Blue Division”.

They even got their shoulder patch from this.

Almost as regretful as the British declaring war in 1914. If they’d have stayed out, the war would not have lasted more then a few months and and the world would have been spared the aftershocks we’re still seeing to this very day. I’m fact, I’d say British involvement in the war is perhaps the greatest catastrophe in the modern era.

Do you think both World Wars would have been avoided had Britain stayed out of WWI? Or would things in Europe still have eventually escalated to a world war?

Had the British stayed out of the war, Germany would have defeated France almost on its planed timeline of six weeks. Following this, Germany would have, as planned, turned its full strength on Russia and almost certainly made them sue for peace as well within a few months at most.

There would have been border adjustments for sure. Germany would be the undisputed power in Europe. But what would have been avoided in such a short albeit sharp war is the total collapse of empires and the long term upheaval of the whole world order.

Could there have been a follow on war later on from a resurgent France wanting revenge similar to what we saw from Germany 21 years after losing WWI? Perhaps. It’s impossible to say what would have happened with Amy certainty. But it’s highly unlikely the result of a victorious Germany in 1914 would have almost certainly been better than what came from WWI dragging on into November 1918.
