UNION Parish -
Union Parish sheriff’s deputies have captured one escaped inmate and are searching for another one who is still at-large.

Captured in the woods off Barnes Bridges Road near Spearsville Wednesday afternoon was Dustin Desadier, 26, a state prisoner from Richwood Correctional Center. Desadier and another inmate, Tony A. Smith, 33, escaped from their work release site at Foster Farms near Farmerville around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Sheriff Dusty Gates said. Desadier was booked into the parish detention center in Farmerville.

The owners of the residence at 574 Barnes Bridge Rd., Michael Joe Hamilton, 42, and Amy Lynn Hamilton, 40, were also arrested. Amy Hamilton denied knowing who the subjects were, but Michael Hamiliton later advised detectives that he knew the subjects were wanted and he agreed to let them hide out. He advised the two escaped prisoners arrived at the house daylight on Tuesday morning. Michael and Amy Hamilton were booked on two counts of obstructing justice (harboring a fugitive) and Desadier, who is charged with escape, also faces four additional counts of resisting an officer, Gates said.

He had refused to surrender after deputies caught up with him in the woods, the sheriff said.

Gates said detectives along with the department’s narcotics team, a dog team from David Wade Correctional Center and other law enforcement officers searched the Barnes Bridge community until 9 p.m. Wednesday for Smith. The search was called off at that time.

The sheriff said when deputies arrived at the house about 3 p.m. Wednesday that the two escaped prisoners ran out of the house into the woods.

How could I forget Chief Wahoo.

He was also a linebacker and punter for the Oilers, Jets, and Dolphins prior to jumping into the ring.

If you enjoy the outdoors and the ability to disconnect it rivals anywhere in the state. The freshwater fishing, duck hunting, deer hunting, dove hunting, hog hunting, and turkey hunting all combined make it hard to say it's not at or near the top for any sportsman.

When Farmerville HS consolidated into Union Parish High, they rebrandeded themselves as "The U" and adopted the green and orange Miami Hurricanes colors.

Still black and orange. The Farmers have a nice little makeup due to the demographics of the Parish. No shortage of athletes or cornfed linemen. Hopefully Spat can get them in-line and keep winning. He's had a nice run since he came over from Cedar Creek.

And their uniforms are

All the old school wrestlers used to wear sportcoats. It added a touch of class, unlike the trashy wrestlers you have now.

I saw that last time I drove up 167, it's new. It used to say Willis Reed. I'm pretty sure there is still a mural on the side of their town hall at the corner of Hwy2 and 167 in homage to Mr. Reed. Its sad rolling through that town now-a-days. Eerie driving through and remembering the way it was growing up heading up that way for the Conrey Creek Festival or a Bear football game when Homer or Haynesville rolled into town.

Yeah, Willie's signs are big and bright and in the median. The Reed signs are kinda dull green, small and on the right hand shoulder of the road.
