Normally the NFL would have already announced at least some pre-season match-ups by now...what's the hold up ????

The NFL and ESPN networks want something to promote and announce in dead month of May.

Paging El Campo Tiger for his schedule predictions

Schedule used to be announced before the draft. They now do it after the draft.

This. And is usually after the draft in case there are any note worthy players coming out. Need to know where they’ll be to try to force them in prime time; especially if there is a situation where Young & Stroud May play each other

Very few rookies in basketball can get national TV games from day 1. Lebron and Zion and I can’t think of any others

I don't dispute that, but the NFL is not above running with the hype of a big name. Last "big name" that jumps out was when Trevor Lawrence was drafted. As soon as it was confirmed he was going to Jax, it was known their game against Cincy was going to be a prime-time game.
So, while they won't go out of their way to pump up a shitty team with multiple primetime games because of 1 name, they will showcase certain matchups if they think it may be intriguing.
To my point, if Carolina and either Houston or Indy end up with both Stroud & Young; you can basically lock that game as a prime-time game. Since the league won't know which team will get the other rookie QB, they won't leak any hints until after the draft

The schedules are about 90% done and the 10% is fluid for matchup purposes. They’ll announce the overseas games in the next 10 days and then schedule releases will coincide with minicamps.

It was always before the draft until they added the 17th game
