Can guys from the xfl sign as free agents and are there any players worth taking a flyer on?? Maybe a pass rusher or run stuffer. I’ll hang up and listen

yes, any time they want, because they arent under contract with any NFL teams

havent seen any yet, these are guys who got booted from every NFL practice squads because they werent good enough.
XFL and USFL are filled with semi pro talent, but it is possible there might be someone you find who is good enough to make your practice squad, even if other teams didnt want them.
maybe tell us who it is you are thinking might be worth looking at and im sure guys here can give you some background on them.

The only players that I could see making a team would be maybe a WR or return guy. The reason I say that is because you could have a low round or undrafted player that went to the wrong team.
Maybe they didn't get an honest look or maybe they had a nagging injury. Maybe the QB play was bad and they were not able to show.
So now they get a little more on tape and maybe show a good catch radius. They get invited to a camp and make it on the squad as #5 or #6 WR or potential returner or Punt coverage gunner.

Dallas did this with Kavonte Turpin (Neville kid). He made the pro bowl last year.

The whole purpose of the xfl is to become a feeder league to the NFL. They make less than a practice squad player and hope that once the season ends that the player gets invited to the NFL even if it's practice squad.

Ex Saint Abram Smith is the league leading rusher

quote:Yeah, this isn't like the old USFL of the 80's. You can't take a head coach, QB, and a few key players, and turn an also-ran into a playoff team like the Saints did.

*Mora, Bobby Hebert, Sam Mills, Vaughn Johnson, Mel Gray, Buford Jordan.
And that's not considering the guys that went to other teams like Jim Kelly, Reggie White, Steve Young, Gary Zimmerman, Maurice Carthon, Hershel Walker, Anthony White etc. Those guys all came over and started, some made the HOF.
If they had a Pro Bowl between the two leagues, it would have been a tossup. The USFL didn't have the depth of talent, but the top players were just as good as any in the NFL.
That ain't the case this time around.

PJ Walker balled out in the XFL before Covid and turned it into an NFL job. Ended up starting a few games for the Panthers. It's rare tho.

There will be some XFL guys who get an NFL shot, but the overall talent in the league is slightly less than what you see in the 4th quarter of an NFL pre-season game.
There might be a thought to be washed up NFL player trying to catch another run on a roster, like Tommy Maddox in 2000, but those will be few and far between.

Saints or otherwise, I hope Jontre Kirklin gets another shot.
He looked competent in preseason last year for Arizona, and has made a couple of splash plays in the XFL
