I'm sure the guy is a major handjob, but you have to give them leeway. You want them to push te envelope because morning drive ratings competition is stiff in a market like Atlanta. As a radio fan I can appreciate this guy jumped off the cliff, and I think quality is better when entertainers take risk. Additionally, all the moral outrage in this thread is preposterous. No one here is even the slightest bit upset unless they really have nothing else going on, and I guarantee you many of the outraged posters here probably complain daily about the "PC police"

All I said was he is open game being a public figure and that their are assholes out there who will try to take advantage of that and poke fun. I think their market should dictate the firing and not people who never have listened to show. If they decide it was over the line then I'm fine with it. I'm not a fan of people who never liste to show emailing leading a firing brigade.
I have not said the joke was funny once or that they shouldn't be fired. I said their own market should dictate it

That's one of the Top 10 dumbest things I've ever read on a Rant message board. Congrats
That is saying a lot. I couldn't agree more.

True. The regular guys do a bit where they make fun of homeless people and Chuck & Chernoff do a Steven Hawking robot voice (I doubt they will now that this has happened). Not saying those are comparable or that Mayhem in the Am didn't go overboard tho.

But when you are out there in public eye shitty jokes can come your way and its part of it
Jokes about dying from ALS, or cancer, or anything of that nature are not "part of it", and the fact that he's a public figure doesn't mean there's some different rule of human decency that applies, nor does him being a public figure excuse or mitigate what those asshats said in any way. That's not a hard concept either.

There is a difference between raising awareness for a terrible disease making you a public figure and being on Keeping Up With the Kardashians

But it is part of it. Their are assholes out there. And because u r sick isn't a shield from it. People are who sick get made fun of all the time but people who find it funny for whatever reason. It's shock humor. And because I disagree with it doesn't mean that's it not part of it.

I can agree with both sides being argued here, and I hate that.

Or others aren't giant pieces of shite. My bad for being pissed that guys made fun of a young father who can't hold his child and his life expectancy. Way to be the super cool contrarian.

your argument is similar to girls who wear booty shorts deserve to get raped.
Posted on 6/17/13 at 2:00 pm to Chad504boy
Not even near it.
I can't help if you can't see pass your fury. I honestly can't. Public figure joke compared to someone being raped is beyond someone I expect to understand it.

I weep for the teenagers of today if you are a representative.

after reading a few pages of this, I was certain Scott Shanle would drop a line somewhere...

Had anything else noteworthy happened with this story since Sbnation did a quick article on it? I haven't been able to follow this since then

While I see and appreciate your love of provocative radio, competition isn't an excuse for going over the line with classless, distasteful and garbage "humor". Their competition is competing the same without this stuff.

Agreed. Scott Shanle somehow is the unofficial fluffer for the city of New Orleans. I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to be angry but I thought he would be smarter than to lump all falcons fans/Atlanta residents into this garbage.
Then again, maybe so many years of shitty tackling jacked up his brain.
