From atlantafalcons.com message board

quote:
I dont listen to 790 anymore... signal is just too weak outside of perimeter. But the morning show is anchored by a guy from Boston who went to school at Tulane and pumps up New Orleans culture more than anyone else in the city of Atlanta. The other guys are transplants from New Jersey and Cleveland, so maybe all the fans over at SR need to "lighten up, Francis" on the Atlanta Falcon "fanbase".

Gleason may be some sort of hero culture and source of inspiration in New Orleans, but that show constantly does routine with former HOF players who are dead and alive, and its tasteless usually, but its part of their schtick.

Best strategy... turn the dial... I did. Its America guys, freedom of the press is kinda fundamental.

It's not even funny. I mean, if you're gonna go that far out on a limb and expose what a shitbag you are for making a joke at someone's expense like that, at least make it a funny one.

How can that even be construed as "humor"? These people are pathetic excuses for human beings.

WWL Article

quote:

An Atlanta morning radio show allegedly poked fun of former Saints player Steve Gleason and his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis during Monday morning's rush-hour drive-time show.
According to a thread on TigersDroppings.com, an LSU sports message board, the hosts of Mayhem in the AM on 790 the Zone spent time mocking the way Gleason speaks.
A message was left with 790 The Zone by WWLTV.com to confirm the segment and its content.
Gleason uses a computer program to speak due to the advancement of ALS. He recorded his voice before losing the ability to talk.
The radio station had not posted the segment late in the morning, but the response on social media included Scott Fujita, the former Saints linebacker and good friend of Gleason.

According to the first post on the TigerDroppings.com thread, the hosts acted like Gleason called in. The poster – JW – said the hosts would then ask “Gleason” questions and have him respond with knock-knock jokes while at one point, wondering whether he would be alive on Thursday.

Nick Celinni, part of the show, later tweeted what appeared to be an apology, though he didn't mention what he was specifically talking about.

It was bad. They pretty much wrapped it up after that. The guy Nick knew he went too far. His last joke was

knock knock
who's there?
I'm?
I'm who?
I'm going to hell for this bit

paraphrasing, but it was to that affect. he knew as soon as he said it that he screwed up

Hey Steve, we usually do knock knock jokes on Thursday

Did they really? Wow, on behalf of Atlanta fans with a soul - sorry. That's uncalled for...
When a football rivalry crosses into the realm of actually life/death and then making fun of it - you need to step back and re-evaluate yourself.

These guys could get fired for this if it's true.

I'm glad this is this first post. thank you
