Absolutely not. I’d much rather try to convince Teddy to wait 1-2 more years to be the guy.

And from what I’ve seen I would rather Taysom. Rosen is very meh.

Pretty similar to Drew's stats from his 3rd year in the league. The Cardinals had nothing but Fitz on his last legs and a ruined David Johnson.

not many rookie QBs set the league on fire. Imagine judging a guy after 13 starts

I mean even Peyton Manning was 3–13 and completed 56% of his passes with more INTs than TDs his rookie year

These morons said the same thing about Goff

Rosen was on a terrible team with terrible coaches with a terrible offensive scheme. Cardinals has worst pass blocking OL. Dude got sacked 45 times and PFF only credit 7 that were actually his fault. He was even the 4th quickest getting rid of the ball yet still saw the most pressure in the league other than Watson. 80.9 passer rating in a clean pocket, which isn’t terrible considering

Hill is 28, has 8 3/4” trump hands, led our team in special teams snaps, and we traded a 3rd for one year of a backup QB. Guy has 7 passes to his name and has looked like arse for most of them

If SP thought he was anything he would not be leading our special teams in snaps nor would he waste a 3rd round pick on teddy, don’t ya think?

Totally different game.

You think he'd be better without Sean McVay? This is a guy that audibles for him til the last damn second.

Agreed. He's still young. But the other two are a little different. I don't think Rosen is a bum, I actually thought he'd be the best of his draft class.

Rookie QBs struggling have nothing to do with the era, especially ones set up to fail year 1

That’s part of the point. Rosen had none of the vital components for success

Goff takes the next step when he gets a great offensive minded coach, a top OL, and multiple weapons at his disposal

Imagine Rosen in LA, or here.

Having Rosen on a rookie deal for 3 more years (2 post Brees) would also allow us to spend on thomas and co. I don’t see us getting in on him but I’d rather trade for him than AB

Honestly, Give up a third next year or give up a second next year with the option to swap thirds (if they suck), and its not a bad deal.

You'd get a young QB with talent to develop and he'd be on the cheap. You still have Hill as a back up also, and don't have to spend money on Bridgewater at this time.

Arizona doesn't have much leverage at this point, since most people feel they are taking Murray at #1.

That said, I am not a fan of Rosen, and think you can get good talent late at QB in this draft. Hell, this draft is pretty weak at the top of the draft for QB, but tons of potential guys in the middle. I think Shurmur or Grier would be solid potential picks in the mid-rounds.

the fact that the cards are already looking to greener pastures after drafting Rosen last year, tells me that there is more than meets the eye

Or they have their choice of any player in the draft, under a new HC who happened to watch Murray tear up the B12. Alao fits schematically better than Rosen. Kingsbury and Murray also share an agent

The whole league is drooling over Murray right now after the combine, it’s not just kingsbury

And really if the cardinals were smart they’d keep Rosen and trade 1 overall for a haul. But their GM is a millionaire who is dumb enough to get a DWI, forced Arians into retirement, and hired guys like Steve wilks and Mike McCoy. So who knows what they’re doing

Fair enough, but I weigh the fact that moving him from the front office perspective is pretty telling as the above poster noted. I wouldn’t have drafted him in the first place though if I was paying with my money as he just doesn’t have the intangibles I personally like in the face of your organization. But if the Saints got him I’d certainly be pulling for him.

Payton could do the same thing for Rosen or another young guy

Their front office is shite though.

I would if it doesn't take a tremendous amount to get him.

No way in hell do you get Bridgewater for less than $15 mill a year. He ain't worth that. Maybe he goes and starts for a team like Washington and in turn the Saints get a 3rd or 4th round comp pick. He is not the future in New Orleans.

Hill is best used as a special role type guy.

To obtain a good qb it will require a lot of luck in draft ( a sleeper or someone falling), a ton of draft collateral, or a ton of cap space on a free agent.

This allows them to pay MT, AK, and Lattimore. Spending big on a free agent QB means one or 2 of those are gone.

It sure would be nice to have say $20 mill in cap space. Brees currently eating up $33 or so ain't helping a ton.

I think you role the dice if Payton is still head coach after next year. I just see him moving on if there is no Brees or suitable replacement. I honestly get the sick feeling ole Jerruh Jones nabs him with an insane offer.

NO.
2019 win Super Bowl. Brees retires after the game.
2020 TANK!!! Finish the season 3-13 or something similar to get a top 3 draft pick.
2021 draft our future QB in the first round.

2024 Saints become 3x Super Bowl champs!

Sean Payton’s contract is up after 2020. I doubt he’s looking to go through a tanking phase, especially with a young defense, an OL in tact and Kamara, Thomas etc in their prime under new deals

The past few drafts have set us up nicely, but you have to have a QB or it’s all for nothing

No.

Dude got injured repeatedly in college, and had issues with injuries last year.

Granted he had a shitty OL, but he is too risky because of the amount of injuries he has already incurred.

Why are you so sure Teddy can’t be the guy? He’s in the perfect situation - behind a HOF guy about to retire and a bunch of young talented guys around him.
