Yes. I'd draft Jordan Mathews and Austin Sefarian-Whatever in the first. Gordon, Mathews and Austin S. > Jimmy Sorry Jimmy.
Sorry, but this seems like a terrible misuse of that haul.
I'd go Sammy Watkins with Browns pick, then BPA @ G/C, ILB, CB, etc...
Don't know how in the world you'd go with Mathews over Watkins.

Because in this scenario you are already getting a big time wr in the trade. Picking watkins would be redundant.

We'd probably get Indy's 1st not #4

yep.
back-to-back #26-#27.
no way Mike Lombardi is that generous.

Is Alshon Jeffrey redundant?

So we'd be drafting either Matthews(who dropped a rd after the Senior Bowl) or Sefarian-Jenkins(like the 4th best TE in the class) with the 4th pick? That'd be way worse than a redundant receiver.

I would without blinking.
Gordon is a #1 overall+ pick with a 2nd Rd contract for 2 more years.
The 4th overall prolly would be best for the Saints to trade down a bit from and accumulate more draft currency. (since we're talking fantasy) At #4, the best pick would likely be between OT Jake Matthews & OT Greg Robinson.
Trading down could be to target CB Dennard, S HaHa, OT Lewan, LB Barr, or LB Mack.
Oh, with the #27 replace Graham with TE Ebron or Amaro then.
Don't see it as much of any possibility at all tho with young TE Cameron coming on strong. Convince them to go Gronk/Hernandez and it could happen.
They were shopping Gordon at the trade deadline. Word then was they wanted a strong 2nd Rd pick. The Saints were never among the teams rumored to be interested. And that deal not happening says a lot about what teams think about the risk with him. He's one oops away from a year suspension for those not taking notes.

I wasn't really saying to pick matthews, just not watkins if this trade went through. I don't know who I would want. Maybe Clowney if he's there.

Completely different scenarios. 2nd round pick = 4th overall pick? I think not.
Posted on 1/28/14 at 7:17 pm to whodatfan
Would with one hand.
With the other hand trade that pick for multiple pics/players and save Graham tag money and paying for two 1st rnd players..

Jeffery is arguably the 2nd best WR in the NFL. You're saying that if they were to redo that draft and he were miraculously there at 19, the Bears wouldn't draft him again? You know that there is typically more than 1 WR on the field, right? Was Detroit stupid for drafting Fairley when they already had Suh?

I'd still say yes to gordon + the indy pick for graham.
#1 - not having to pay 9-16mil for a single player not named drew brees
#2 - getting a top tier WR with 2nd round rookie salary who was 1st in ypg with a carousel of QBs.
#3 - being able to pay cameron jordan when that contract is up.
#4 - having options of either being able to draft 2 BPA in back to back picks OR trading one of the picks to load up on more picks ala NE.

paying for two 1st rnd players..
they got that under control with the new CBA
Sam Bradford #1 in 2010- 6yrs $78mil, $50mil guaranteed
Eric Fisher #1 in 2013- 4yrs $22mil, all guaranteed, 5th yr club option
It's all slotted now

If they were to redo the draft they probably would pick jeffery at 20. They probably wouldn't pick jeffrey at 20 and then pick cordarrelle patterson with their second round pick. It's a rough analogy, but what I'm trying to say is that they wouldn't spend all their resources upgrading one position while ignoring the rest of the team.
